It’s been a kinda wild last 24 hours.
My dad ended up with congestive heart failure about 3 years ago, we got him back and healthy but the meds they gave him damaged his kidneys, so he has been on dialysis for the last couple years till he can get in for a kidney transplant. I think his kidney function also has to be below 10% for the doctors to go ahead and have a transplant scheduled.
Last night he and my mom told my sister and I that the doctors had noticed a mass on one of his kidneys that had grown large enough that they wanted to remove it to make sure it wasn’t cancerous, as the meds they put you on to get your body to accept a new kidney can cause cancer to form. It does not run on his side of the family so I’m hoping it’s benign.
So April 13th, they are going to remove one of his Kidneys robotically, we aren’t sure if it’s the one that’s still functioning or not so that will be another hurdle, but they think it will be encapsulated in its entirety and if it is cancerous, he will not have to do chemo or anything of that nature.
I’m struggling with myself because I’m the same blood type and have thought about giving him one of my kidneys, but he does not want me to do that. It’s hard having to watch someone go through this.
If you could keep him/my family in your prayers, I’d certainly appreciate it!
