This looks interesting:

Just when you think you know all there is to know--or maybe all there is worth knowing--about a subject, there is always more to experience. Maybe Netflix can offer some unique perspective to WWII without distorting it through one of today's lenses of "justice."

which is funny given there are instances of black servicemembers heroism and struggle that can be told without needing to interject them elsewhere like you say
Yep. But they're not at interested in heroism, they're interested in changing the past to meet modern politics.

Which as a history enjoyer is a major gripe I have. I get some historical inaccuracies for the sake of dramatization or compression of story elements, but outright changing/rewriting distinct elements for some ulterior agenda is a major disservice

"Who controls the past,’ ran the Party slogan, ‘controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.’”

I watched the first episode. Pretty good from this non-expert but relatively well-versed WWII history enthusiast. I didn’t see any wokeness. Definitely some dramatic edge to it to help underscore the evil that brewed.

I didn’t recognize a single bit of archival footage, so it’s fresh and they did a lot of work to enhance and colorize without making it look fake.

Hopefully the remaining five episodes keep pace.

I haven't watched anymore episodes yet, but I did hover over the series in Netflix the other day. It showed a clip about black folks serving in an all-black tank brigade.

So fair warning for those who're triggered by the presence of black people.

Assuming the accounts available to us little people haven't been changed. It's not like the internet is fluid or anything.

Fair enough. There are also exceedingly few veterans from that war as well for as close to first hand as you can get

No, those vets are all but gone. But there is a metric crap-ton of primary sources from which to draw. It's probably the most written about war of any.
