So I've been missing my bolt action 308 since I sold off a Savage a few years back and have been wanting to dip my toes into focusing more on rifle shooting.

This is what I have to work with shortly:

Rem 700 Lefty action
18" threaded 1/10 .308win barrel
Factory Recoil lug
Factory SPS stock and bottom metal
Ceracoat Sniper Grey barrel and action
Warne 20MOA base

Currently not assembled so the options are wide open and I don't have to feel bad about breaking apart a new rifle.

Primarily a range rifle, but could be used to harvest the occasional deer.

Thoughts so far:
Action: Leave it alone?
Trigger: Upgrade maybe? Triggertech?
Stock/Chassis: KRG Bravo with spigot mount, like the look of the Grayboe Phoenix as well
Optics: Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 First Focal Plane... something else?
Bipod: Atlas?
Sling: Open to ideas.

Thoughts? Discuss...spend my money.

People with money make me sick.

To be fair you gave me some of the money....and this is going to be a long term project.

Factory barrel?

planning on PRS style competition or strictly bench shooting?

The chassis and trigger are a good start. Just to see how the factory barreled action shoots. You can mod later. I have a couple of the TriggerTech triggers and they are awesome.
Scopes are a ton of personal preference. My guilty pleasure with them are the SWFA fixed scopes. I keep trying other stuff but end up swapping my 12x and 16x around between rifles.
I have one Atlas bipod. I usually end up using a pivoting Harris with PodLock most of the time.

Factory barrel and action.
My plan / focus is such:
Work on becoming a better fundamental rifle shooter.

Work on being a better practical rifle shooter.

I would like to try PRS but think I need to hone the basic skills first. It's been a long time since I've done any serious rifle shooting..... think of this as a re-entry, refamiliarsation project/process.

I am currently lacking what I would consider a precision rifle. Seeing as how this is parts currently, it's a opportunity to build something other than a AR.

Black Friday helped me start on the project.

Area 419 Hellfire muzzle brake arrived today.
TriggerTech Special with straight trigger shipped yesterday.
