New King Cobra 10 shot .22lr from Colt

No way I would trade my Smith for that. Not after all the problems with the colts
That’s ok , so Colt had a few issues when they relaunched revolvers after 20 years of not making them. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive when you factor how few have had issues compared to the thousands of guns they have pumped out. With CZ steering the ship - i have zero qualms about buying one
S&W has an occasional issue with their newer guns too, I am glad to see new models being introduced by so many brands of Revolvers.

It was more than a few guns and a few issues.

I personaly have shot Colts to only have the barrel unscrew.
I will never buy one of the newer Colts. There is no comparison to the old guns across the board.

But yes very happy any time we have new wheel guns. They are one of my favorite.

It sure is pretty, but I can’t justify a $1k revolver in .22.
A GP100 in 22lr is unobtanium except at that price point, and barely even then.
A new 617 in 6" is around a grand as well.
I could drop to 8 rounds and get a Smith 63 I suppose, but that's $850 ish, there is one right here in Morrisville I looked at the other day.
Really is crazy what it takes to spin a wheel these days.

does anybody actually know the price ? My Local gun store sells the 357 King Cobras for 8 bills. Both newer 617 and the Ruger GP100 22 are in that same range - but again I haven’t seen the price yet

“I will never buy one of the newer colts” yet you make an unfounded statement without a shred of actual experience that the old guns are better across the board.
I respectfully disagree. Yes they have had a few issues, but so did the old colts and old smiths - the only difference is those “problems” were worked out so long ago nobody remembers.

Not sure of your point and what you speak of on experience.
I grew up shooting the colts. Owned several over the years.

Had the opportunity to shoot the new ones and see a few come back with problems.

So your point is? Mine is first hand knowledge hands on both the old Colts and new Colts.
After shooting the newer Colts I will not own one of the current production guns.
No I have not shot the newest 22lr. But based on the others... jut not for me.

Honestly: if I were planning on buying any modern revolver and have it perform at its best, it would be with money set aside for proper tuning and whatnot by an experienced wheel gun smith like Mojo or Pinnacle.
So when I look at prices I mentally add at least 500$. It is what is it. Hard to expect a sub 1000$ revo to be what it could be.
Cheap skilled labor is a thing of the past never to return. And good revos smiths are rare and likely to soon be gone forever.

Love to see this. I have lusted after the 617 for a while, but had heard stories about problems with the hand after lots of rapid double action shooting (we shoot steel challenge matches at my local club). Also, when I had the cash, couldn't find one. When I didn't have the cash, I'd find 'em everywhere. Finally found a good deal on a used 5.5" Ruger GP 100 10 shot 22 a few years back. Drove a fair bit to get it. Have thought about replacing it with a 617, but I think I'd rather have the Colt. It's the best looking of the three (IMHO), course I'm a sucker for the look of the Colt's. Hope "they get it right" the first time.

Just luck.

I’d love to see more pics of the stocks in the TL, including the inside. If you are in a picture taking and showing off mood. I’m curious which master of old made them. Nice score!

New Revolver from Colt - 10 shot .22lr on what looks to be a King Cobra frame - 4” and 6” options . Looks really nice

I'm not sure I could handle the massive recoil of a King Cobra in that chambering.

They have anything in a less intimidating chambering?

🤣
