Hey everyone,

Hello and great to meet you all. I’m new here (obviously) and looking forward to getting to know some folks here. I heard about the forum through GRNC, which I have been a member and supporter of since last year. I was also at their Ring Steel event out in Polkton last weekend, where I got to meet a lot of great people in this community.

Unlike many here, I’ve not been around firearms my whole life, and still consider myself somewhat new at all this. I grew up in a family that never had guns and never interacted with them. The first time in my life that I ever shot something at all (rifle) was in my early 20’s with a friend out in the desert, and then one random range trip as part of a bachelor party a few years later. Those two isolated instances were my entire experience with guns during the past 15 years, up until during the pandemic.

Like so many people, the pandemic was really a wake-up call for me. For the first time I actually realized how under threat so many of our freedoms really are. Long story short, I eventually reached the point where I decided I wanted to have a pistol at home for defensive purposes as well as to exercise my 2A rights, and perhaps eventually begin to carry as well for the same reasons. I have a wife and three daughters; and the thought of not being able to defend them in a truly worst-case type of scenario (i.e., home invasion) began to weigh on me. So I started taking classes and some private lessons at Triangle Shooting Academy, and soon became a member there, where I now spend time training or practicing almost every week.

So, I say all that to say, I am happy to be here and am looking forward to learning from the many people who are further down this road than I am. I don’t know how much I’ll be able to contribute to discussions here initially, and I may have far more questions than answers, but looking forward to it all the same. Thanks for reading my story.
