Hello all, introducing myself as a new member here, from Ashe County. Retired. I enjoy building goldfish ponds and repairing and cleaning up old guns. I started with "the guns of my childhood," then accumulated old family guns, and then it always seems reasonable to adopt "just one more" or take off into something I haven't learned about so far.

Welcome, we're happy to have you with us.

Hello from Raleigh, you're going to like it here on CFF.

So you live on one end and I live on the other I grew up on park vista rd and use to ride my bike down to Blackburns store. I had a friend that live on your end of Idlewild named Sheldon Cozart did you know him?

Park Vista road is beautiful. What a great place to grow up. And if you climb up to the top you can see for miles and miles. Where grew up you can see for miles and miles too. But because it was board flat - not a hill in sight. Only place I ever used a sled was on the big plie of coal cinders in the back yard.

Central Illinois' high taxes, strict gun laws, and lack of scenery are some of the reasons I moved to NC. We lived down in Raleigh, but then retired to the Blue Ridge. But I've only been here a while so don't know many folks outside my neighborhood. We love Ashe County more than any place we've ever lived.

When I live on park vista there were so few people living in the area that we knew everyone that lived on Idlewild, park vista, Philips gap and most of pine swamp and caloway gap. Now we know very few as all the old timers have died off. Everyone use to hang out at the old Howard Blackburn store and most of the roads were gravel.
