Hello everyone! My fiancé and I (somewhat) recently moved to North Carolina. We moved last year to Avery County, from Chicago, IL. Don't worry, we did not bring any Chicago politics with us - staunch 2A supporter right here: GOA Life member, member of FPC, SAF, and now a member of Grassroots North Carolina (GRNC).
Why did we move? Over the years my fiancé and I had been toying with the idea around leaving Chicago, we were starting to get fed up with the corruption, taxes, crime, politicians, liberty restrictions, etc. It was a fun city to be in when young. The bars, clubs, restaurants, diverse people, culture, food, museums, etc were all great. But as we got older and as things got worse, enough was enough. The cons started to outweigh the pros for us. Then with all of the COVID shenanigans going on for the last 2 years, a bunch of different things fell into place for us, and we had the opportunity to leave, so we left while we could and never looked back. I am not from there originally, but was there for work and ended up staying there for many years, and always knew one day I wanted to leave. She is from there and I finally convinced her to leave with me, and she is very happy she did. We are both thrilled to be here and we love it here so far. I also have some family here that are born and raised North Carolinians, so we are glad to be closer to them as well.
I've been a gun owner for 12 years carried regularly for the last 8 years, (we both have our NC CHP now too). We have both taken some multi day defensive pistol classes together, but we are new to black rifles. I would love to find some land around here (and some shooting buddies!) and learn the AR platform, we need to exorcise the leftist demons! Lol!
I'm glad I found this forum. I think staying informed with your state's laws and fighting for your state's rights is just as important as on the national scale, and sometimes the local stuff is even more important. Looking forward to our time here (both the forum and North Carolina)!
A little about us: in our 30s, no kids yet, love checking out new restaurants, dogs, hiking, and fishing/fly fishing.
