I just picked up this 3913 NL (a Lady Smith for those of us who can't handle "Lady Smith" etched on the slide). It is in near new condition despite being from sometime in the early 1990s (as determined by the serial number and early 3rd Gen features). I paid significantly less than the average Gunbroker price for it, and it doesn't have any import marks like a lot of the similar guns available now.

I carried a regular 3913 (not a NL) in the 1990s from the time I got my carry permit in 1995 until I got distracted by other guns a few years later. I've always missed it. My preference has always been DA/SA, metal frame, hammer fired guns for carry; but those aren't so much of a thing anymore. Mags cost more than they used to, but I bought a few spares (it only came with one unfortunately). I ordered a new black grip since the gray doesn't really work for me, and I found a holster maker with a good reputation that makes an AIWB holster. Once I function test it with some carry ammo I will be back to carrying in the 1990s, well except for not being young, thin, or handsome like I was then...

I had a 3914 (the black version of the 3913) in the 90's. Good pistols. I keep my eyes open for one for sale. Good luck with this cool find.

Nice find! They are getting harder to find these days.

These do get overlooked today but I had a 3913 waaay back in the day. I was all about carrying 1911s/Beretta 92s, etc. but handled one at a gun show and bought it. I was too young and poor to keep more than 1 -2 at any one time, and could only change if I traded or sold what I already was carrying. While I was not nearly as excited about it as one of my larger (duty guns) I went home and went through actual printed catalogs (!) and ordered one (from Don Hume) by letter and snail mail (!) after getting a USPS money order (!) and had to wait 2 -3 weeks for it (!) and didn't even get a tracking number(!!!!!!)

(All the exclamation points are for anyone under 25 who can't imagine how we lived back then...lol) 👴

As unexcited as I was initially, the 3913 became the first off duty gun that I kept for more than one year. In fact I probably carried it for almost 2 years, before getting the itch to finally trade into something else. I had a buddy that handled mine and also bought one. One local grocery store hired us to work off-duty back around 1989-1990 (?) and I recall carrying this handgun, which disappeared under an untucked shirt in that Don Hume holster, along with my convoy ;)and a badge and set of cuffs.
