After picking up an M18 last year and really liking it, I decided to build my own version of it. I really like putting things together so the fact that I could build thing completely, kind of appealed to me. Started with a stripped FCU, added a parts kit (damnit those are expensive!), then upper parts and went with a Wilson Combat grip module. I also put in a Apex forward set trigger bar and the Armory Craft tungsten weight rods. Hopefully see how it shoots tomorrow.

Very nice! Look forward to hearing how she performs.

Pretty spiffy, there.
I like the grip pattern.

It is very similar to the Wilson X-TAC on the EDC-X9

Yeah, I dont like those grips.
I do like the OPs grips, though.

The texture pattern on the grips panels is almost identical? They are both versions of the Wilson Starburst pattern. The texture of the front and rear grip straps is different. The Wilson Sig frame is like a stippled BHP or 1911 frame.

Almost identical isnt identical, now, is it?

But let me be absolutely truthful here. It probably has more to do with OP put something together himself that he's proud of and I complimented him on that.

Now, along comes someone who likes to show off posting $2500+ guns hollering 'Hey look at me! Ive got something similar!'

You do this in a great many threads where folks post something they've acquired or worked on. You almost always have to one up whatever someone posts. You've always got one that's in better condition, been customized by _insert high end name here_, or just more of them.

We get it...you have high end Wilsons, BHPs, CZs, Sigs, or whatever and feel the need to show off.
Let someone else be proud theirs for just a minute without the need to upsyage them, ok?

Just my opinion. Like it, lump it. I dont care.

Derek, good job. It looks nice. Cant wait for a range report.
Sorry for all that. I wont post here and derail this any more.

So clue me in here. The serialized portion is the guts underneath the grip? Then you can kind of mix and match grips and frames?

I’m out of touch on the polymer Sig systems.

Looks fun!

The Sig fire control unit is the “gun”. It can be removed from the frame and put in another frame. It is a modular pistol. The 9mm, 357 Sig and 40 are interchangeable. You can use the same FCU in multiple frames in multiple calibers. The 45 ACP does not fit the other frames.

This allows a lot of aftermarket companies like Wilson to develop different grips with slightly different frame profiles.

I prefer the Wilson grip better then the stock m18 grip. Looking good!

I do as well. I’m going to keep my m18 stock just because I only bought it since it’s the current service pistol and I want it to be as close to that as possible.

First nice looking Sig P320! I've had the 365XL since launch (it' like a compact-P320X to me) and last Dec snagged a P320X Full that is just awesome! I'm thinking about a future build starting with a FCU and going M18/carry sized.

Could you please explain what you mean by "stripped FCU and parts kit"? The FCU's are darn pricey as is!! I've added a WC grip module and the Apex trigger to mine so far too, and they are great.

it’s pretty much like building a stripped AR lower. You buy your receiver (FCU), then get a lower parts kit for it.

Thanks for the info, that is news to me. My limited knowledge on the FCU was that it was already a completed unit when purchased. Looks like you can take either route. I'm curious which is less expensive? Time to plan a future build. :)

It’s about the same price. The stripped lower ran me $100 and the parts kit I got was $299. Those prices are kinda insane IMO considering your jsut buiyng a piece of stamped metal and some springs essentially, but it is what it is. Honestly I should have just bought a complete P320, even is all I wanted was the FCU, barrel and guide rod. Probably would have come out cheaper, but I do like building things completely and it was fun to find all the parts and put it together.

I agree about buying a new P320 being cheaper. You can always sell the parts you don't use to recoup some of the cost. With that said, either way, it's expensive.

Uhhg. This looks fun.

Yeah, I’m fighting the urge as well. He made it look to fun!

You shot it yet? I’ve got the same thing going with a build...letting my son pick the parts. 🤔 Have the pro cut Sig slide (thought it looked the best out of all the aftermarket we saw (at least what was in stock) and a grip module coming from FDEZ WERX. Got a Holoson from a previous project ready as well. Certainly cheaper to buy a complete gun and then replace, but that would eventually turn into 2 or 3 more...like BRD, but I guess that would be SigFCU disease! 🤣

I did get a couple hundred rounds through it the other weekend. It shot excellent and I was a big fan of the trigger. I was also very happy with the Romeo1 Pro, and so far I like it a lot better than the Leupold DPP.
