The guy is 83 years old so there is hope for all of us. Once you get to the point where you can't run around anymore just sit your butt down and keep shooting. And maybe even shoot a "purdy" rifle too. Maybe that's why I like F Class style shooting. Given the choice to sit down vs laying down I'll go with the laying down. 🤣

Still an amazing feat at any age.

Yep amazing is the word. Also amazing is that he can lift the rifle with a smile on his face. The spec sheet says the stock alone weighs 27 lb!

I would like to see the time the score was fired. Certainly no wind was in play and also the centering of the group suggests a vast knowledge of the range and rifle’s data to pull off the record. Great work by the shooter, very impressive.

That’s awesome, but here is my question because I shoot only a few hundred yards max, and I truly don’t know…

if the gun is that heavy and in a vice/with sandbags, and will not move left or right, or up and or up and down with each breath…

then what part does the shooter actually play?

long range guys don’t hate on me to much

Reading the conditions and knowing when to shoot. Setting the rifle up on the bags and keeping it consistent. Being a world class handloader.

And some other things that I don't know!!!!!!!!

The more the shooter isolates themselves from the rifle the better when it comes to benchrest. The shooter’s main function is to align the rifle, find a consistent atmospheric condition that will hold throughout the time required to fire the designated number of rounds and fire the rifle by lightly touching the 2 ounce or less trigger without disturbing the rifle.

The rifle is laying in a cradle and the shooter still has to move and set up every shot as the rifle recoils. The circle measures around 3 inches in diameter...and it is 3,000 feet away. He shot a 10 shot group that measured 2.642 inches. Can he do it again? I say probably not.

He probably couldn't repeat that, but with his skill and equipment, he could probably stay under 6 inches at 1000 yards consistently, which is not easy!!!!
