New York compliant Non-assault weapon

I like it, it is very much shorter than my FiteLite, fits under the back seat of my Tacoma. the barrel looks to be pencil profile. Since I cant have a handgun in NY. This seems to be the next best thing.
Oh I also found out that part time people that live in NY may apply for a pistol permit. Definitely going apply for it and see what happens.

unless things have changed you will need to take a course up there similar to our CCP class here and then you will have at least a year (if lucky) wait for them to start processing your application.

I'd be careful you might get to pay part time taxes as well.

I would just forgo visiting that side of the family, I am 100% serious, I’d have them meet me half way in a free state between us.

Just about every trip I make up there I am either harassed by a trooper or a DEC officer. Might just be bad luck, or maybe they need more revenue. While I love smallmouth fishing up there with the additional Covid BS it makes me think my trips may be done for the most part.

Maybe I am lucky, but since 2009 I have not been stopped by police yet.

I drive with cruise and am pretty tame. I got a ticket in the mini van years back. I knew the Trooper’s training officer and he still wrote that ticket.

And I got a ticket for speeding in a boat. From a DEC guy on land. 🤨

Edit - Yes I was flying in the boat, but dude was on land!

How does that work? He yelled at you and you floated on over to him? Did he swim after you or did he call upon the sea creatures to give him a ride like Aquaman? Or did he have a partner for backup?

He saw me on the river and waited at the boat launch until we came in later in the day. Very productive day for him I’m sure. My brother had been quoted in the local paper disparaging NY DEC in a professional setting so we’ve always wondered if someone went to the trouble to stalk and harass him. That’s be pretty sad, but who knows?

Initially when I traveled to Central NY, the Kel-Tec survival rifle was not compliant, So I put it under the back seat. The next time I go back I will have it more accessible.
On another note I am going to go thru the process to attempt to get a NY Pistol Permit, and claim I am part time living in NY

We have a unique set of circumstances here in that we can "test" alot of different ways that people choose to carry their firearms. Personal, on-body and vehicular carry. I am always pleased to hear back from people after they leave...have time to think over what they have done here.

Of all the problems here, the carrying of a long gun seems to be the most problematic. If it is far enough away that it takes 20-30 seconds to deploy...you might should have chosen to be a 1/2 mile away by then. If you are stopped and can't move [Bad Planning] you can't get to your trunk or under your back seat. We have a man that Is a shooter. He worked all afternoon trying different places and different ways to get to them. He determined that unless it was Somewhere in the front seat area, it was useless. At which time...about 3 hours and lotsa ammo...I got to say......I see what I mean.

We also have stationary car scenarios and we have the ability to shoot from Moving cars. The Moving Car Shooting is Always entertaining :) Almost as good as seeing folks try to figure out how to dismount a vehicle and engage targets.

Anyway, we try some of it all here. Things you would pay multiple thousands of dollars to do. Here it is treated as a learning process for All. All IS FREE.......You Must Be A Supporting Member Of CFF...
If that is too much to ask........you will have to live with that decision.

Carry Every Step-Shoot Every Day....

I did a training a couple of years ago, shooting around vehicles. We did not shoot in moving vehicle, but we did stow rifle in cabin and exit with it. We also covered where to get some cover like engine block, wheels etc...
I think shooting in a moving vehicle would be a real hoot.

Tell them to visit you here, it's easier.
My sister always told me that, not easy traveling with two toddlers at the time to NJ..☺️
