Oops! Appears private data, including "names, addresses, dates of birth, firearms license numbers and bank account details" have been exposed.

An interesting take away from the article:
"Nash said the buyback had so far collected 43,000 weapons, most of them being “the type of firearms that are used to kill people”."

Yet before the confiscation began: Nearly 300,000 licensed firearm owners own and use New Zealand's estimated 1.5 million firearms. Jul 25 2019.

If my math is right, that's a 3% compliance rate. Today is their imposed deadline to turn in their guns.

One step further, because transactions are 'on the books' at FFL... This is why its also prudent to know how to build at least one type of gun from 80%.

This is also why its important to know at least one person with a boat and to go on said boat at least once a year to corroborate the story of the unfortunate loss. Depending on your acquisition rate, you may need to go on that boat more frequently if a year worth of firearms too much to gamble with.

All the registration schemes I was subjected to in the PRK made you pay for the privilege of registering so it's conceivable the payment method is stored. Especially when they call it a 'license', implies it will expire and they'll need to charge you again and again for the privilege. Income stream AND confiscation list. Win-win for the crown.
