An interesting take away from the article:
"Nash said the buyback had so far collected 43,000 weapons, most of them being “the type of firearms that are used to kill people”."
Yet before the confiscation began: Nearly 300,000 licensed firearm owners own and use New Zealand's estimated 1.5 million firearms. Jul 25 2019.
If my math is right, that's a 3% compliance rate. Today is their imposed deadline to turn in their guns.
