I have a SBA3 brace I'm attempting to put on a pistol lower I just got from PSA. It's EXTREMELY tight. I can get it started but even lubed with silicone I can't get it all the way on.

Have I got a commercial vs MIL spec problem here? If they weren't the same size I didn't think they would fit at all? Suggestions for a way forward?

You may have a commercial buffer tube, an abnormally tight SBA3, or you may have a knockoff SBA3. The China clones fit MUCH tighter. You can take a dowel and some sandpaper to open the ID up some if need be. I'll assume you're pulling down far enough on the detent that it's not interfering mechanically.

It's super tight before I ever get to the detent, and the only way I can even get it that far is by using lube + all my weight with momentum, and then I can't hold the detent down and use enough force at the same time. I've already backed it off and I think I'll try the dowel suggestion. đź‘Ť

OK looked at this again and I am an idiot. I've been trying to cram a cylinder style pistol buffer tube into a brace made for an adjustable carbine buffer tube.

The only other AR pistol lower I ever made also had this kind of tube but the SB brace I had then (long time ago, I think it was the original brace) was designed for it. It just slipped on and I used tape for a friction fit. Now I either need to switch the buffer tube or the brace.

Do they still make braces like that? If I order a carbine tube will it be compatible with the buffer, spring, etc. that's in there now?

I guess I should have ordered a carbine lower instead?

Thanks for the help.

If you want something for a plain tubular tube I recommend one of the KAK blades.
