Just bought my first threaded barrel "something". Well, its my 3rd, but the first two I sold......this one I am keeping. Can someone please post or PM me the process for applying for and getting a "can"?

Advice is was given by @BigWaylon ...

Think long and hard about what you want to do with said item. It’s a lifetime investment. Some things to consider.

Mounting system - I’m a fan of tubes using ASR threads. That design offers you flexible mounting options (direct thread adapters, flash hiders, muzzle brakes).

Caliber - .30 work very well on .30s with surprising performance using smaller calibers. .223 cans are purpose built and limited to that caliber or smaller. I like flexibility.

MOC - look at weight! Titanium, stainless, and other fun materials. Pick durable, light materials.

Brand wise, I’m a fan of YHM. High quality, affordable with excellent performance.

Good luck!! The water is just fine, but deep...very deep!

I am new to this as well but I used https://www.silencershop.com/ and they made it really easy, now I am in the waiting forever part. The have cashed my check and I am in the long waiting until approved part!
This is the route I choose for simplicity.
Being able to roll your own finger prints when you stop to look a gun stuff makes it pretty convenient.

AATW.

+1. Having had to take fingerprints for security clearances is one skill that I didn't ever see myself using outside the military. ;)

I think it's really funny how we find ourselves doing little things that we did in the military, especially the things that we thought had zero civilian application.

Question: the only thing currently that I am thinking about using a can for (for no good reason) is a little Beretta Tomcat. Not sure if this is kosher, but does anyone have a can I could test drive - us together, not "give" me to try, but literally screw it on, fire a round and just to see if it "silences" enough? Maybe they aren't universal like that. I just don't want to go through the process then be disappointed in the result.

Where in NC are you?

Tomcat is .32?

What’s the thread pitch of the barrel?

Being a newbie myself I found it easiest to set up a SilencerShop account and than putting my fingerprint on file using their kiosk. Once you have an account and prints on file you place an order on their site and they take care of the paperwork.
