Hello from the new guy,

Considering a move sometime in the future to the Palmetto State. As far as I can find it is a NFA friendly state without state restrictions beyond the federal laws. However, I don't seem to be able to find any information on outdoor ranges that allow MGs, etc.? We would be interested in ranges on the eastern part of the state. In or nearby Horry County. Any info would be appreciated.
We have friends that live in SC and they tell us most ranges ban MGs. Hope this is not the norm there?

Don’t have any advice on your question but it looks like you’re already living in the most 2A friendly state in the country so unfortunately for you it can only be a down grade anywhere you go. Where in AZ are you located?

The two gun clubs/ranges that I have been a member of here in the Midlands (Columbia and surrounding area) allow MG's. I think you run into the issue sometimes with the local DNR public ranges as each range has its own set of rules. Can't help you with Horry Co as I am not familiar with that area. Here is a list of the public DNR Ranges for SC:

Welcome to CFF and best of luck with the move. As @Derek8404 stated you have it good there in AZ. SC isn't too bad although there is definitely room for improvements!

Every range in my area bans MGs except for one in the whole county. And Horry County is on the eastern part of the state.

These are 3 I’m familiar with in Horry Co.

I’m a member of the Wildlife Action range in Galivant‘s Ferry. No MGs allowed there.

There is another outdoor range between Galivant’s Ferry and Aynor, but not sure what they allow. You could email them.

There is an indoor range in Conway at The Gun Store. I know they have their own full auto guns, but not sure if they allow customer’s FA guns.

All of the state DNR ranges that I know of have no prohibition on MG's . I shoot at Indian Creek and Leeds all the time. No problem.

I’m living in Yuma.

Haha yup, it sure is. I laughed out loud when I drove by the high school and saw that was their team

I nearly took a job as plant engineer for a date processing company in Yuma. I like dates and the money was there. Went down there to check the area out, got offered the job and said Nope.

Really? I think it may have surprised you if you gave it a shot. This has become my favorite place I have ever been stationed and I’m strongly considering staying after I retire. You can off road and shoot anywhere you want, the city has everything you need and if not your only 2.5 from Phoenix or San Diego. Sure it’s hotter than hell in the summer but it doesn’t ever get cold and 8 months out of the year the weather is amazing. The people are some of the friendliest I’ve ever met and excellent Mexican food is everywhere.

I clearly remember a drive I took from San Diego to Texas when I was 18. Stopped in Yuma in August . My shoes melted. Literally melted to the payment.

I don’t doubt it for a second. It is literally the hottest city on earth.

I'd suggest checking with the folks at Manchester since I believe it is staffed and may have restrictions on rate of fire but I'm not sure.

Twin Ponds was rebuilt some years ago and is now staffed and is slow fire only, I've not been there since the reno but hear it is very nice.

Boggy Head is unstaffed and MG friendly, I shoot MG's there a couple times a year. The downside is I've had some fudds get pissed off and call the PoPo, as a result I've been asked for papers twice by BCSD officers. The place is usually a mess with trash and other crap that low life shooters fail to clean up after their stint on the line. Weekends can be very, very busy.

Panteao (now Champion Sportsman’s Club) is really nice with much longer distances plus pistol caliber and rimfire only bays too. However it's south of Columbia off I-26 so it's a longish but worthwhile drive from the Horry County/ MB area.

WOW....27 bucks a day???

Why don't you post your question in this thread? He's already monitoring it.

If you do a search on the threads for Battery Oaks, it should bring up information about his range. I've never been there (yet), but don't think that it's too far from Horry County.

What type of MG's do you have? A number of us on CFF are into Rock 'n 'roll. Arizona is a great NFA state but unfortunately is rapidly turning purple due to the influx of pests from your west...

Post # 1. Arizona has great weather which is very attractive to many people but it is slowly being ruined as you wrote.

Battery Oaks is open to Supporting Members, which is why a lot of discussion is not out in the public areas.

Billy is in Horry County, so I can guarantee that the $20/yr or $150/lifetime to be a Supporting Member would be worth the price of admission. 😎

Surprisingly humid when I visited it being in a desert environment
You must have caught it during the monsoon season. It is very rarely humid out here.
