I coach soccer at the school I teach at.
Well, I am supposed to be the JV coach, but we folded the jv team this year due to lack of players, Im the assistant V coach this season.
It's not been a good season, we've lost and lost and lost.
For added motivation, I had an idea, "When we play at Salisbury, yall win and we'll stop at Cookout or something on the way home."
Well, we did not win.
But we lost 3 to 2, and they are ranked 7th in the state for 2A this year. Theyve won 3 state championships in the last 6 years. Theyre really good. And we were in the dang game.
So me and the head coach talked and said, "these boys played their butts off, lets do it anyways"
We ended up, because the kids asked, going to Chic-Fil-A.
28 of us (not counting some parents who got there early).
Some kids didnt have any money and one kid just went and sat down. Head coach walked by, "youre not getting anything?" and the kid replied he didnt have any Ive money with him, coach said he'd get him.
Coach then has a guy walk up and put a 20 in his hands and tell him to use it to help anyone that didnt have money.
Wow.
A complete stranger.
So our kid got what he wanted, which was just a small fry, and we thanked the man for his generosity.
Of course, a small fry does not equal twenty bucks, so I used that money and paid for the people behind us - two on-duty Sheriff officers.
In a world where we see so much hate, anger, and violence on tv, there are still LOADS of amazing people in this world/in this country. Bless all you awesome folks who give to make sure others dont suffer or are left out.
