At one point, my collection of classic S&W revolvers would have rivaled @Jeppo 's . I just traded away my last S&W, a 625. šŸ˜¢

I've had several copies each of Mountain Guns, 27s, 28s, 629, 329PD, 625, 14, 15, 17, 18, 34, 617, 60, 36, 66, 19, 65, 10...about every flavor of j-frame. N frames from 3-8", Ks from 2.5-6"...more that I just can't think of off the top of my head. Outside of the calibers over .44Mag, I've had about every variations you could think of.

Well, I guess my wife still has a 642, but does that really count?

I'm also fresh outta 2/3rd Gen Semi Autos.

So...sad day for me. But my goal of focusing on shooting rather than collecting keeps moving ahead!

Totally understand the move. I have considered doing something similar at times.

I have exactly one revolver, so I can focus on fundamentals of shooting with a revolver. A 6" barreled S&W 66-2 that I've no intention of getting rid of. However it also scratches my itch perfectly fine for the number of revolvers I feel a need to own. Duplicates aren't explicitly necessary in this field IMO, unless you're getting into things like Cowboy Action shooting. At this point, you have a great idea of what you do or don't want. That's a great position to be in. Now you know which model of Smith is the Holy Grail to keep an eye out for, if you ever do want to get back into revolver shooting.

For me, it was nearly opposite. I pared down my collection of semi autos to guns I could use for CCW, and focused on getting revolvers that I know I'll enjoy shooting more. I don't have every version of S&W, and I don't need them, but I I ended up with snubby and 4" versions of the model 19, 686, snubby, 4" and 6" of the 629. a j-frame airweight for pocket carry, and a 617 .22 for cheaper plinking.

The 9mm bottom feeders get to the range often enough to stay on top of proficiency, but the wheel guns get all the love.

Me too Shashmaster. I never bought anything with the intention of parting with it. Now my older self says I might need to become the beware of the of the man with one gun........or three.

Me too, I sold or traded off all my SW's except a model 686 (retirement gift from an employer), model 29 and an old M&P .38 that belonged to a relative and all of a sudden, I find myself with a nice model 66-2. I guess I'll put it up for sale after I shoot it for a while. Over the decades I've had numerous Smith and Wesson revolvers, all excellent pieces. I miss the .44 special HE 2nd model the most. I bought it in a package deal from a guy who walked out of the gun shop he was trying to sell them to: Colt 1917 with dual cylinders in .45 acp and .45 Colt, the S&W .44 mentioned here, and a Colt SAA .45 Nevada Born in Battle commemorative. All long gone now. Once the money traded hands we went back into the shop and did the transfer.

I had this .38/44 Heavy Duty for several years, it had been sold through a Los Angeles gun shop sometime in the 20s according to the factory letter.

Blasphemy!!!

That's what I say too.
His actions are clearly against the law.
NC. Leg. 414-10; "It shall be unlawful for a resident of North Carolina to un-possess all of their S&W revolvers."
He didn't even keep a model 10.

does it help that I GAVE those (3) away to little 'ol ladies?

Well one thing will hold true, youll never buy any more for less than double what you were paid.

Inflation will see to that.

I hope you donā€™t. After youā€™ve gone, weā€™ll convince Mrs @Jeppo that you were ignorant and paid too much for your stuff. Then we have a celebration of life honoring you!
