I've know people, friends and family who have gotten the C word diagnosis. Outcomes have be okay and awful.
There is no rhyme or reason to it. Not related at all to whether one was a good person or a real 5#it heel in life.
Sometime it is a clear case of karma. In Ted Kennedy's case it was karma delivered a few decades too late.
But my friend Paul, was only 34 when mesothelioma took him a month after diagnosis. I've never met a more giving person in my life.
My neighbor's daughter died at 29 from an extremely aggressive breast cancer and a doctor with God complex who refused to refer her to an oncologist because she was 'too young' to have breast cancer. And then delayed treatment when it returned.
My father died about 7 months after a colon cancer diagnosis.
But I also met a man who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer when he went in for a kidney stone ultrasound and survived.
A former colleague chose life for her daughter when her small cell carcinoma came back during the pregnancy. It was too late by the time the baby was born. She passed a few months later.
A 34 year old father of 3 dies from pancreatic cancer in just 6 months.
But Geezerburger lives on to torment us with her disdain for the document she swore to uphold.

The best we can do is pray for the strength to do what we need to do and deal with the outcomes.

It's cruel and pursues us all. We generate cancer (DNA mutated) cells daily, usually our body kills them before they grow into masses.
My father-in-law was buried 3 days ago, my father has it, a dear friend (nicest guy you've met, never drank or smoked and isn't long for this world), my co-worker's bad off.
I do wonder is it much more common, or due to modern diagnostics, do we know about it cancer?
It seems much more common, I suspect our highly modified food supplies.

"But Geezerburger lives on to torment us with her disdain for the document she swore to uphold."???

We are created in God's image. We are not created Gods.

Because we have been created like God, we have enhanced senses: sentience, intelligence, an ability to imagine, an ability – as well as an urge – to create.

Because we are not actually God, we have not the capacity to understand completely that which we feel, know, imagine or create.

We exist under the arch of time; our creator exists above and beyond it. The outcome is veiled to us, but not to him.

My last "camera ride" found two benign polyps but one had abnormal cells of the type that become cancer if not removed.
That turned the "free" screening test into an $800+ medical bill. Guv says it is only screening if nothing is found.
I liked it better when it was just a specialist co pay.

My great grandfather died of cancer in 1961. In those days by the time they figured out something was wrong you were on death's door. We have gotten better at finding cancer, so we naturally find more of it.

That fact is lost I those who say the sky is falling. Detection is hire. But that didn't prove rates are higher.
That'd would be like staying men are thinner today because they are but m buying more 34's and 36's Ibarra of 38's without noting that men's pant size is no longer in inches. They are vanity sized now.
