I think we all share the defensive aspect, the protective means and all that. I've been around, seen way too much bad stuff. I carry everyday.
But the statement I relate to most is when he comes in as 'moderator' and says ya-know..a lot of folks do this because it's fun. For me, that ties for first place with the protection abilities. I enjoy the fun part as much as anything. I don't have many safe queens, but a few (a pair of unfired sequential # security six's come to mind) and now & again I'll pull them out to admire. It's pleasing to just think about how I got them, how they've remained unmolested for 40 some years..just a fun thing to do, even for a gun that doesn't get fired.
I like gun magazines, the kind you read. But I hate 90% of the ads. They always show some hard ass bad ass and his-her handgun/hunting rifle/black rifle and how with this product you are an unstoppable force within the world. Step the eff back because you are a bad mutha now.
I believe that most folks are like me. They mainly enjoy the fun aspect..developing skills, target work, reloading to perfection...being outdoors. It's a zen thing. I'd love to see the industry get away from the divisive/categorizing hyper-machismo crap and get back to the fun part of firearms like they did in the Sears catalog in 1958, because some things truly never change.
