I have one. Non capture as it was uncles war trophy. So. Its DUV 40, K98. This is a Berlin-Lübecker Maschinenfabrik rifle. With bayonette and scabbard. All numbers match (including stock) except bayonet and bolt numbers slightly different. Missing forward magazine lock screw. Sans sling, otherwise complete. Bluing below wood is perfect. Bluing above wood is faded/light pitting. Bore slightly frosted but clean and accurate, shoots great. 8x57 caliber.

Other than being a Non Russian capture, anything special I should know?

I think we need to see some pics of it!

You are saying it is a bolt mismatch? DUV 40 is not an easy code to find. If you want a ballpark value post some pictures and we can give you more info.

Does the bayonet match itself?

Horribly dangerous rifle. I will be the first to offer to take care of it for you and safely store it to prevent any one being injured by this tool of death. You can visit anytime of course.

Bayonet. And scabbard numbers match but slightly differ from rifle. Boln number is different. Am assuming bolt was a field or depot replacement. Could be same for bayonette and scabbard.

So, I found out the DUV stamp is "rare" on the 1940 issue due to the change over in markings in 1940. So, my guess is shooter condition and given the ridiculously high prices on mausers these days its one of the $350+ value ranges. Well, won't sell it, but I sure will shoot it!
