I am usually drinking a brown liquor on ice and hoping that it came from a single barrel but while in Puerto Rico I took a tour of the Bacardi rum factory and we enjoyed a spicy rum punch made with passion fruit and fruit punch. Also maybe a little pineapple juice. The girls loved it. Good start.
When I got back home I tried to make it but seemed to be missing one thing. The drink seemed to be a little on the heavy side so I am thinking maybe a little sparkling water or ginger ale to bring some lightness to the drink.

I am open to suggestions.

Experimentation is your friend.

No matter what you put in the drinks, they start to taste really good after 3 or 4!! :)

Are you using the same rum? There's more difference than you might think.

Pinkbunny that is the drink with the Oakheart rum and those glasses. Yes, I did the tourist thing while in Puerto Rico. Mine just seemed a little heavy. As Windini said experiment. Might try a little ginger ale.

Just looking at the video, it looks like something like:
1.5 oz Bacardi oakheart
1 oz yellow stuff(sour mix or passionfruit juice or pineapple juice, likely not syrup, but juice)
1 oz red stuff(marashino cherry juice or grenadine[or pomegranate juice])

I might add some lime juice or velvet falernum to spice it up. Ginger ale would add some nice fizz.

edit: actually, after thinking about it, it might more likely be:

1.5 oz Bacardi oakheart
1 oz yellow stuff(pineapple juice or passionfruit juice)
1 oz Hawaiian Punch or other tropical punch

Seems like they would use something cheap and fruity as their red stuff, instead marashino cherry juice or grenadine. It doesn't look syrupy for those, and pomegranate juice is too expensive. For the free drinks, they're gonna go cheap. Tropical punch juice.
