I figured since we have a thread for abominations, we might as well have one for honeypots...

Here's what motivated me. Since there is no barrel included, it is just a stock for your pistol.
No way to make that into something legal unless you already have the barrel, which is apparently more rare than the stock.

Beretta Neos Carbine Kit
No barrel or harware
CashApp, Check or Money Order Accepted

I'm aware of what to look for on Wish.com but I'm unwilling to direct my browser there to grab a screenshot. I think looking alone adds 100 points to your super secret personal red flag score. 🚩

I had a buddy tell me, "You can Google blah, blah, blah." I just said, "Uh, no, I can't."

In my early Armslist days, I had a person offer an AR as a trade for a pistol I wanted to sell. I asked for a picture. I got a picture of an SBR.

Not today, AFT man.
I saw an online auction of guns police had confiscated and were turning back out onto the street through an FFL
Cool idea and more agencies should do it
But one of the guns was a hipoint 995 carbine with the stock cut off. It was entirely possible that it met the minimum length standards... but I wasn't going to risk it.

How do you know it was an SBR and not an AR pistol? As far as I know there is no way for you to verify it via serial number registration.
having a stock on it would be a solid giveaway

I’m still not sure why all you guys are slamming the automatic transmission fluid salesman. He’s gotta eat, too, and our cars need his product.

I could be wrong on this, but I don't think the pistol brace was a thing when I experienced this. At least I wasn't aware they existed.

But it did have a stock and what looked like a 10ish inch barrel.

I wonder what ever happened to this ATF douchenozzle? Confiscated a bunch of airsoft rifles claiming they could easily be converted to 5.56 firing full auto. He even struggled while attempting to insert the mag backwards.

That agent is a imbecile….

Does his mama know he’s playing booze/‘baccer/bangstick cop?

"The ATF confirmed these could be converted to military grade weapons. When asked if they could see that documentation the ATF said they would have to file a FOIA request with the ATF."

Because when I'm being honest I make people work that hard for the answer.

I remember reading that he was quietly transferred after this fiasco but don't have, or remember, any details.

A quick search doesn't result in much other than a few other botched ops he was involved in. I'm not willing to dig deeper because it won't change anything but my already high blood pressure.

If you aren't aware, the ATF has decided that these things are too easy to convert to machine guns, so the are now all machine guns.

Didn't the company do some recall or "upgrade" to bring them into compliance? Maybe i'm thinkin of another ATF gotcha gun.

ignoring whether or not it is one of those..... it also appears to have a vertical foregrip.

in a different thread on here where i asked the same thing, it's not exactly vertical. it's angled, and the atf defines vertical grips are what make a pistol into an aow. 89° is not vertical...
here's the opinion letter on it.

Seems like converting the airsoft is about the same amount of work as finishing an 80%.
but some spots were marked and milling was started... so it's 100%. because.

....ive seen that letter too. Still seems like its bad idea to post it up in that config since the atf doesn't even follow its own "interpretations".

Allright...here is where I have an issue...

The ATF now takes months to process a simple form to allow a suppressor or SBR...and that back log keeps growing as they arent making the process easier from what I can tell. But this same group is somehow going to manage to take the data from a bunch of gun shows, see who is there, set up tracking of these people and attempt to somehow make use of this information in any useful way?

a little of A) and a little of B)
A) the backlog will grow because they really don't have any incentive to approve you faster for things they don't even want you to have
B) they will recruit help from FBI and other groups if they think they can put you in jail over something. Don't forget, ATF grew out of the IRS and they still work with them on tax stuff and things they think require tax stuff. and the irs has 5M rds of ammo and a few thousand guns. They may be paper pushers, but those aren't just paperweights.

it's actually not a terrible idea. i tend to just hold paper towel or a rag when pushing a brush through to catch the crud. I just don't know that every time i clean i'd want to take off the muzzle device, clean, then retorque the device. that could stress my theads.
who am i kidding? i don't clean...
