My FIL has been having multiple minor issues, and my wife and SIL have been alternating care.
BIL was heading out of country for work this morning, and took the mandatory covid test....he tested positive. His wife and my wife were
all at the FIL's place yesterday for a few hours. SIL and FIL tested positive this morning. My wife tested negative, but she will retest on
Sunday.
SIL and BIL have only mild symptoms, both were jabbed.
88 y/o FIL certainly didn't need this on top of everything else that he's going through. Hard to tell if he is symptomatic, because of the issues
he was already having. Weak, low blood pressure, aches and pains, and difficulty standing/walking.
Prayers appreciated.

🙏 Prayers for the best outcome to all 🙏

The China virus is still alive and well, much to my dismay. Several friends have contracted it recently. Sending prayers for you and your family.

Well, a setback.
Last night (early am) my FIL woke up needing to visit the bathroom, got disoriented trying to get back to bed and ended up
on the floor in the closet (it's a big closet).
Couldn't get up on his own. Kept slapping his hand on the wall until my SIL heard it (2 hours later).
He can't walk now, blood pressure still low, and he has lower back pain.
BIL drove over and called the doc. Doc said to get him to the emergency room.
Both BIL and SIL couldn't get him up and to the car (he's 220#+ and they are small), so they called the EMTs. They got him loaded in the ambulance and got to the ER about 4pm today.
SIL is in the waiting room, BIL waiting in the car as they are only allowing one visitor per patient in the ER waiting room.
FIL hasn't been admitted yet as they are still doing an evaluation.
We're waiting to see if they admit him, is so, then we will be driving up to relieve the SIL/BIL tonight.
BIL and SIL still tested positive for Covid via home tests this morning, but tested negative at the hospital.

FIL has a urinary tract infection and stage 3 kidney failure.
They are treating the infection and fluids are hoping to bring the kidney thing down to stage 2. Apparently stage 3 isn't that uncommon for someone of his age.

They are also thinking that the lower back pain is related to both of the above.

He was released from the hospital yesterday, and taken to a nice rehab center in Greer, SC. Supposed to be there for two weeks. Then home.....hopefully.

I have stage 2 kidney failure and they don't think much of it. Hope he recovers faster that they think! Prayers sent

Another busy day. (3-12-23)
We visited the FIL most of the day. He never could get comfortable, still not eating or drinking. Both of us agreed that he won't be able to complete rehab.
SIL stayed with him last night and we got a call, late, saying that they were transferring him to the Greer Hospital and that he would be admitted to the
ICU for kidney failure.

FIL is back at Greenville Memorial now.
They did a full CT scan this morning, and called the family in shortly thereafter.
They have found Pancreatic Cancer, and the cancer has spread outside the pancreas.

The option to treat the cancer is out due to his overall condition, and his body probably wouldn't take
any biopsies to see how far things have spread.
Last option is Hospice....at home.

He was given the max allowable doses of pain meds without a team assessment (finally), but only after he was able to understand
the prognosis and agree to the hospice care.
His mind is still sharp, but he's been all but begging for pain meds for days. It was good to see him finally get some relief!

After the family meeting, they went back to the "two at a time" rule, so we left to allow his pastor and a friend to visit.

Shortly after they left, he had a major pain episode, so the docs had to have a team review to approve higher dosages.

He understands that he likely only has weeks left, and he accepts that. He just wants to go home, can't blame him for that.
Hopefully that will happen this evening, or in the morning. Waiting to arrange things with hospice.

Thank you all for keeping him and our family in your prayers.

Prayers up for all of you for strength in tough times ahead.

Glad he gets to go home!

Yes! I know that's what he wanted.

We kinda expected the prognosis. just not for a different reason.

Pisses me off that they didn't do the CT scan and find the cancer two weeks ago. He's a tough old bird, but he went through a lot of pain that could have been avoided.
The doc that called the family in was good, but went through a lot of rehashing before getting to the cancer announcement. I was about ready to tell them that if they didn't give
him something for the pain....then I would!
