Here's a little tale from before I came here for good.

I ended up in the US via a girl from New Jersey who fell in love with an accent, my words (English major, nuff said) and eventually the cooking. I visited the US a good few times before I came here for good.

As long as I can remember I've wanted to visit New York City. At least until I started spending time in New Jersey and meeting all the escapee NYC denizens or just those there for the lower tax shopping. They cured me of wanting to visit NYC for good.

The day came for our big NYC adventure and I'd totally lost any interest in ever setting foot in the place, an attitude that has grown stronger every year I've lived here.

NYC and the towns are not NY. I'm sorry that was your experience of NY. NYC is a great city --to visit. Aside from that, not so much.

At least it's a step in the right direction: how many liberal LEOs said they weren't going to enforce immigration law or even cooperate? Right now, in NY, I could live with "it's not a problem until it is."
 
I lived 1/2 a century within an hour of NYC, until last year. In the early 90's, when I worked in the S. Bronx and Manhattan, there was 2300-2500 murders in the city. In recent years, it's getting near 500.

Five to ten years ago NYC was safe. Really safe. I would/did highly recommend going there for a few days and see the sights - it's like no other place. I don't like cities, I like nat'l parks 10x better, but to go there a few times a year was fun.

Now, I wouldn't recommend going there with a well-armed platoon. In the 90's, crackheads were killing each other as were the drug dealers. Today, it's just psychos and random acts of violence against anyone. It's insane.

This Sheriff's announcement is a good thing - but truly it's only a whisper. Sheriff's in downstate NY (where the voters are) are basically jail guards and handle evictions. They don't handle 9-1-1 assignments, deal with crime or make many arrests. Upstate, they're typical cops and function as most sheriffs around the country do.

I disagree. If they ignore the laws now, what's to say if the law is changed some other douchebag will not care and start locking people up anyway?

once the laws don't matter you're just at the mercy of whoever has the capacity for violence.

The rest of the state could be inhabited by angels and it doesn't matter because the state is controlled by the cesspit city.
 
Attaboys to the LEO’s who do take a stand, however I can’t see how it will matter in the grand scheme of things The mass of the voters are a pitiful collection of liberal, leftist, woke, Socialist/Marxist hacks who vote according to what they are fed on CNN , BSDNC and The View. Without a doubt there are good people in both places but most IMO are (like their west coast cousins) sitting on their collective asses, drooling and content in the notion that their gubmint has their six….Rant Over…
