**** January 16th…..Given the 10” and rising snowfall and forecast for the coming week, we are making the call to postpone the match. Simply put, even if the snow is gone the range will be a mess and just parking will tear things up. We’d rather give folks plenty of notice. We are targeting Feb 26th for the new date. If you’re registered, watch for an email with details. ****

Mark your calendar for January 22nd! This is going to be FUN!! Fast, challenging and friendly 3-Gun during the day…followed by a 2-Gun under the stars! Run one, run both…have a great time! You do NOT need to sign up for both.

BBQ Dinner on us after the 3-Gun, before the night match.

Night match will have specific squads for NODS and Visible Light. So, come out and actually put that gear to the test! If you've never shot in the dark, quit putting it off and come see what it's all about.

If any of y’all are on the fence about the night shoot…get signed up. We’re likely going to drop from 4 squads (40 shooters) to 2 squads (20 shooters).

We’re doing the planning and figuring out just how much time we have/don’t have to cycle people through.

Edit: as of right now, we’re at 10 night shooters already

I just added another squad to the Night Match! We sold out the original allotment fairly quickly, so we'll add another 10 slots to the mix.

We spent yesterday morning doing stage planning. This is going to be the most fun match yet, and I'm not just saying that. We carved out a couple new shooting areas to mix things up.

If you've shot with us before, we're skipping 'stage 1'. That's the stage on the hill shooting into the woods. We added another stage along the creek behind the pavilion. And we pushed the rifle range stage down range to about the 200 yard line to open up a KILLER new shooting area deep in the woods off of the rile range. In other words, we're only going to have 1 'bay stage', and that will be the enclosed/270* bay.

BBQ dinner on us AFTER the 3-Gun, before the After Hours.

New shooter friendly! If you haven't shot a match before, just let us know and we'll get you a battle buddy to help out.

REGISTER:

Make sure you register for BOTH matches if you intend to shoot both.

Just got home from a little night shooting. I’d like to kick whomever painted all the steel orange right in the nuts. Kinda hard to see, even with a quality light! Proofed our stage areas and got a better idea of what we have to work with. It’s gonna be fun!

Sold out the original allotment for the night match so we added another squad. 3-4 slots still available as of now.

The DAY match is going to be killer, too. 2 new shooting areas. Including One stupidly LONG hoser style stage running through the woods that’ll be a ton of fun.

I think we have ~20 day match slots open.

@Moth will there be a 2-gun option for the daytime match? Thanks!

Sorry, but no. That was a royal PIA to manage in terms of stage design, scoring, etc. and trying to keep the 2-Gunners happy with round count, fun stages, etc.

We DO have loaner shotguns!

Thanks! I'm signed up for both matches, I've just been having trouble getting my shotgun to cycle 100% of the time. Anyways it makes good practice.

Any rules for the NODS division other than no white light? Lasers, dots & illuminators all good to go? Helmet mounted IR as well? How many stages will there be?

No white light for NODS. Would be a good idea to have a red/green/blue light handy for admin tasks. You WILL be squaded with visible light shooters, ROs will manage ensuring that all visible light is off while a NODS shooter is on the clock.

We will likely require shooters have a chem light (provided) mounted at belt level for safety.

5 day stages, 4 night stages

BTW, what's the typical shotgun round count......ball park?

If it’s anything like the last few, Tim recommended me to bringing 100 shots per weapon and you *should* be taking ammo home.

I would be very interested when it is warmer. Yes I am a wimp.

Reynauds is a bitch and makes reloading near impossible.
Ain't it though. i dropped from the first match, cold and rain, cause i just did not believe i had enough dexterity to handle the guns safely. When you can not feel your hands or feet, it sucks trying to do anything fast, or slow for that matter.

Well, after a month delay due to the epic snowfall, it feels like this match is sneaking up on me!

Day and Night matches are both sold out, but if someone wanted to get in on the Day match let me know. Sorry, but the wait list is deep for the night match.

We are keeping a close eye on the weather this week as it impacts stage design in a big way! If we have any significant rain we'll need to skip the enclosed bay (boo!) in favor of better footing in one of the pistol bays. I HATE small bay stages for 2 gun, so we'll do our best in that regard. I'll try to have stage briefs up a day or so ahead of time.

My hunch is that this match is going to feature a bit more shotgun than usual. The new shooting area really lends itself to screaming through the woods and blasting away!

LUNCH....instead of having lunch mid-match, we'll have it set up at the end so the day/night folks can both grab a bite. Be sure to bring a snack - bring me one too.

Hey @Tim, there was a gal taking pictures yesterday of everyone. Do you know if she’s posted those to a website?

Want to Thank everyone who had a hand in making the all day and all night match happen yesterday. I had a great time. It was an excellent match. I say all day and night because we started shooting @9 am. I think and when I got back to my car it was @11:30 pm. If i hadn't have missed so much I wouldn't have had to burn so much ammo. (LOL). Definitely looking forward to the next one, especially the night match. I highly recommend shooting either if you have the chance.

My legs are still hurting. This match really exposed my lack of physical fitness. Overall, I felt pretty good about my marksmanship, dumb mistakes aside.

Getting a capable shotshell holder and learning to do double loads really helped, but the handicap presented by my 870's low capacity and cylinder bore really showed. I don't think the fact that it was a pump slowed me much at all.

The M4gery performed very well, but double tapping paper is tough. It is a little gassy and has a FH instead of a brake and seems to bounce around quite a bit. I run a basic single dot Eotech with a 3x magnifier and felt great about it out to the ~320yd target. The combo seems to work well to 400. 500 is doable but tough. Past 500 is a guess. The 14.5" Colt SOCOM barrel shoots like a laser beam.

The G19 was a champ. I still think you'd have to be a very high level shooter to get to a point where a stock G19 (or your service pistol of choice) with good sights holds you back.

For now, I'm going to continue to run this basic gear. I am still the weakest link out there and need to work on myself first.

Both of my squads were awesome and overall, the match was an absolute blast.

I didn't see the night time results, are they up on PS?

I have a shell caddy for sale if interested….give you a good price as it’s just collecting dust. Only holds 12 though IIRC

Actual AAR...

1. Both matches, day time 3-Gun and the Night 2-gun were a blast and couldn't have gone more perfectly. But that's the last time we'll do both on the same day.

2. I was worried about the "big" stages with lots of movement, I thought that was a mistake. I was wrong. Everyone I asked after the match said that's what they really like about our matches; I did not get a single complaint about having the physical nature of the match at all.

3. We had a couple minor logistical issues (timers, pasters, paint, etc.) but I don't think most shooters noticed. The guys on my squad may have noticed more because I was dealing with them while also shooting the match.

DAY MATCH
Stage 1: Hillside Blues
- Begin with rifle inside a small shooting area. We had a milk crate (low to the ground) if desired for support.
- Engage 2 static steel at ~75 yards. ~8" gongs. Then, clear a dueling trees (6 plates), also ~75 yards.
- Run ~40 yards to position 2.
- Clear 6 paper targets (2 hits each) at 20-35 yards with the rifle. THEN, 4 steel targets hidden in the woods up a slope at roughly 100 yards. The elevation change and woods screwed with people's perception of the distance.
- THEN, clear an array of 10 knock down steel with either shotgun or pistol (I ran all shotgun)
- THEN address a spinner with either shotgun or pistol.

Stage 2: Shotgun Creek
- Begin with rifle in hand. Shooting area had a variety of props (tire, spool) to shoot off of.
- Clear 7 steel targets on the hill, in the woods, across the creek. Targets were somewhat hard to see given the vegetation.
- Move to position 2, a short 10 yards away. With shotgun, engage 2 steel poppers that threw a clay as they fell. Poppers were ~20-25 yards away, making choke and ammo selection important.
- Then advance to P3, about 25 yards away, to clear 6 clays
- P4 to clear a couple more clays plus an array of knock down (pistol or shotgun)
- End with a pistol shot on a gong at about 15 yards.

Stage 3: Bay Watch
- Start with Rifle behind a VTAC board in Bay 1.
- Engage 3 small scale papers with rifle through any port in the VTAC. Targets from 3 yards to 30 yards out.
- Dump rifle and run to Bay 2.
- In Bay 2, we hid a pistol bullet or shotshell under a clay. Shooter had to flip up the clay to figure out what to shoot next.
- Shotgun side required movement between 3 postions to clear the course.
- Pistol side required 2 positions for a variety of steel knock downs and then featured a double plate rack (2 arrays of 6 plates each one right in front of the other).

Stage 4: You Spin Me Right Round
- Stage prop was a tire hanging from a 2x4 frame.
- With rifle, with some part of the body in contact with the tire frame, engage the spinner at ~80 yards. Rifle spinners are just fun and challenging!
- Then, with some part of the body in contact with the swinging tire, engage targets at 120, 220 and 320 with 2 hits each. My squad (including myself) went through all sorts fo gyrations trying to steady that damned tire. The smart squads just put their support hand on the tire and laid the rifle across the 2x4 frame.
- Then, engage 2 static steel at ~25 yards with pistol
- Then, engage a dueling tree with pistol

Stage 5: Shotgun, Rifle and 4WD
- JUNGLE RUN! Always a crowd pleaser...start with shotgun and run up the path (UP the path...) about 40 yards clearing 16 clays on the way.
- Dump the shotgun, and run another 40 yards through the woods to position 2 trying not to take a header in the mud. With pistol, clear 4 small sized papers and 6 (?) knock down steel.
- Then with rifle, clear 6 static steel hidden in the woods. 60-100 yards.

NIGHT MATCH
Stage 1:
From the day match, we eliminated the dueling tree, 2 static steel and 40 yard run.
We added some reflective tape to 2 of the steel on the hill from the day match. The tape worked well for both white light and NODS shooters and seemed to hold up. We swapped out the small paper for full size IPSC targets, but otherwise kept the same layout.

The IR Laser under NODS was amazing on those targets on the hill. Tons of fun!

Stage 2: skipped

Stage 3:
- Swapped out the small rifle targets for full size in Bay 1
- eliminated the small knock down steel in Bay 2
- Made Bay 2 all pistol
- Otherwise same stage plan

Stage 4:
- Moved the start position back about 50 yards
- Rifle engaged 2 x static steel at ~75 yards with 2 hits then advanced down range to Position 2
- Anywhere between the start line and P2, engage a full size IPSC steel with rifle at 120-140 yards. Again the lasers and suppressors (less smoke!) ruled the day here.
- Dump the rifle, with pistol 2x static steel and the dueling tree

Stage 5.
Skip the shotgun jungle run, but otherwise kept the stage pretty much the same as the day match.
The targets hidden in the woods got awfully hard to see after the pain wore off!
