Beware! I feel like shooting small targets far away. šŸ˜ƒ

Plate racks at 125yds? Sure!
Skinny Sammies hidden in the weeds? Fun!
50 yard pistol shots? OK!
you get the idea...

We'll have another "Beat Frank" stage and a special prize for top CFF'er!

One admin note, somebody shot a bunch of holes in the steel at our last match. BI-METAL ammo as well as green tip is not allowed. If your bullet attracts a magnet, no matter how thin the bi-metal jacket, you can't use it.

Imma gonna try and make this one. I'll see how my getaway time looks closer to the date

Whatā€™s the approximate round count youā€™re looking at for the match?

I've never seen bi metal ammo punch through steel. Peak fudd lore other than just having to trust everything to magnet testing.

He didn't say their steel was shot through with bi-metal, he said it's not allowed. Those two things are not the same. Just sayin'.

Punch through, no. Thatā€™d be the green tips. Crater? Yes. In any case, the range owner says no, so thatā€™s what we do. If you wanna invest in several thousand dollars worth of steel plus a hundred acres of land to host a match, youā€™re welcome to set any rules you like.

We try to set stages so you have options for each target. That said, if you planned on 100 hits each rifle, pistol, shotgun youā€™d be covered.

I've shot my steel with steel jackets and really haven't seen that all, be that from pistols or rifles. I guess maybe I'm getting maybe a bigger risk of frag from pistols but I got my saftey squints on. I do play nice and even got steel free 7.62x25 for being an idiot at a match with a tokarev once.

In my backyard though, we're doing lines off hookers and shooting black tip at everything.

I was supposed to shoot with Jeff last time ! Donā€™t move me bro! šŸ˜‚ If people sign up late they will have to suffer.
@Tim Is really sounds like he wants to be moved!

Yo!!! We gotta pump these numbers up!

Never shot a match before? Donā€™t have a shotgun? Donā€™t wanna be ā€œthat guyā€ that asks a bunch of questions? Screw all that. We got ya covered! We are very new shooter friendly and offer a lot of challenge for experienced types.

Get registered, come have a ton of fun!

Are you saying there's a 2 gun division?

Registration is now open for Old Fort 3 Gun at VOD Tactical!

July 30th, 8:30am

https://practiscore.com/old-fort-3-gun-july-30-2022/register

5 stages of natural terrain, bays, longer distance rifle, plenty of movement and - as always - plenty of options to shoot stages YOUR way.

Josh Poe is designing our 270* bay stage!

We are skipping the jungle run stage so I can torment you with small targets at long rangeā€¦think spinners and plate racks with your rifle (or pistolā€¦or shotgunā€¦how much do you want to run?!)

As always, weā€™ll even feed you!

See you there!

Tim & Frank

Stage 5 - Get in the Zone

July30_RifleStage.jpg

- Shooter may only use 1 gun per zone.
- Shooter MUST abandon the gun used before proceeding to the next zone
- Targets may be engaged from any zone with appropriate gun
- Rifle may not be utilized beyond the Charlie Brown prop
- All targets at or beyond the stop line are rifle rated (poppers, plate rack, torsos)
- Torso targets inside 100 yards are paper - 2 anywhere/1 A Zone with Rifle/Pistol or 1 slug
- "L" shaped targets are steel knock downs, pistol or birdshot only
- Spinner is pistol/birdshot only
- 2 hits each on steel past 150yds

Shooter starts outside Zone 1 with pistol loaded and holstered. Long guns loaded and safe, either in-hand or staged in barrel of choice.
180 par time

Don't use this sketch for round count or 180* traps, just for an idea of the stage plan.

Bummer that 0% of my 7.62x39 ammo is allowed anymore. Maybe I'll run the PTR or *yawn* an AR like a reasonable person.

Not weirdest rule set I've seen. Saw a Match tell me steel jacket 223 wasn't okay but steel core 7.62x39 and 7.62x25 is okay. Fudd lore is bizarre. I thought they had banned all steel ammo out of feer of god knows what but the more I asked the weirder it got

Yeah. Rules are rules and beyond the few entry fees Iā€™ve paid I havenā€™t contributed anything to this match so Iā€™m not gonna complain. Itā€™s put up or shut up.

In the end, someone was irresponsible and ruined it for the rest of us, but thereā€™s nowhere else remotely close running fun matches.

A case of range safe x39 is sub-$500 and would let you shoot at least 5 of these matches with whatever commie rifle you please.

Iā€™m not thrilled by the rule, but having a range as nice as VoD that opens their doors to non members to shoot matches so affordably is the trade off.

I've given some garbage to a match with no bizarre rules. The idiot shooting black tip is gonna blast black tip with out asking.

You're crossing from discussion territory into annoying whinging internet knowitall territory there bud.

*Have crossed.

It's so hard sometimes to not use my almighty moderator powers for evil. If I did, I'm awfully glad he's notacop and can't arrest me.

Wanna split a case? I'd like to run my new Hammer, but only have bi-metal stuff on hand.

Already ordered one for myself lol
I probably won't be able to make it out to this one anyhow, hard to say when I will or won't be in town with my work schedule. If there are still spots available week-of, I'll probably jump in. I'll know much more betterer that week if I'll have availability.

Can you run this stage faster than @VOD Tactical ? If you do, there is a valuable and coveted prize just for you!

92 seconds to BEAT FRANK. 180 par time.

Stage 1 : Donā€™t Frank it Up
Start with all 3 guns loaded and placed on the table (weā€™ll have non-skid in place before the match).

At the buzzer, in any order..
- engage white steel with birdshot or pistol.
- Blue steel with 1 slug or 2 pistol.
- Orange steel (thereā€™s a 3rd target up the lane in the woods that you canā€™t see in the video).
- Paper rifle or pistol
- clays (including 2 flying) with birdshot

Shooter can engage the safety and lay down a gun to retrieve any other gun at any time. You CAN go back to a previously used gun.

Drop a gun or let one fall off the table is a match DQ.

We apologize for the fault in the Stage 5 "Get in the Zone" brief above. That stage plan has been sacked, and those responsible have been sacked.

IOW, we ain't doin' that way no mo'.

Fudd lore is bizarre.

Some random jackass calling Frank a ā€œFUDDā€ is about the funniest thing Iā€™ve seen in this forum.

Take any random 20 guys around this place and I can pretty much guarantee you heā€™s sent more lead down range than the rest of ā€˜em combined.

See that's the problem, gotta chuck steel

Registered. Shooting Tac Irons. Looking forward to it (and lunch) I've missed the last couple of local 3 gun matches for various reasons (including the one this weekend). Gotta try to get some practice in, so I'm not just wasting ammo (again, LOL).

Tim (you've seen me shoot) , or anyone else, any suggestions on getting better in the next week or two (LOL) would be greatly appreciated. Seriously. Feel free to message me with actual drills/suggestions.

Thanks.
