I recently recieved a gift of an old shotgun press that I am looking at parts and pieces for.
Looks to be a pre-1982 MEC 600 jr and is in pretty good shape after a PB blaster and compressed air bath.
It seems the older ones didn't use a powder bushing and just charged thru whatever hole was drilled in the bar along with the shot load. That is...sub-optimal. The one that came with is just says 12 gauge 0 which I understand to be a 1 1/8th load of shot and a red dot / green dot 3 dram (21.5 gr) load. I'm not even using that old bar because it's just not even in the realm of accurate from what I am reading. Not looking to kaboom another gun.
Looks like I would need at a minimum new bottles and a charge bar / bushing setup.
I'm also missing a drop tube and part of the priming cup (spring and pad).
I'm sure someone out there may have some knowledge even though MEC has an excellent archive.
