Old Stevens Click-Clack

Here’s a Few after pics. Finished the stock walnut with 4 coats of TruOil. Am considering deglossing the stock to give it a more “ natural “ finish in keeping with the time period in which it was built. Any thoughts?

Nice work! It looks great as it is, but a touch of deglossing - not matte, just a superfine rub - might let the beautiful figure emerge. It may be a trick of the light in the photo, but that Tru Oil gloss reflects so well it can actually interfere with viewing the wood behind it.

Alternately, try a medium- or low- gloss paste wax to try and tone it down w/o altering the finish. If you don't like it, you could take the wax off easier than re-gloss-ifying it.
 
That looks great! I redid a Remington 34 that my father gave me. Great job. It will look great either way.
