I was looking at both today at Academy. They both felt pretty good in my hands, the Ruger felt a little better. I could not try the triggers since Academy has those trigger guards.

I believe the ruger is hammer fired , I’d take the ruger over the smith purely based on that , I’m biased as I’m a revolver guy .
Both firearms would serve you well .
Get them to take the guard off so you can test them out . Kinda like not opening a door on a car you’re thinking of buying ...

I asked and he wouldn’t remove it. I said “well, I’m not buying it if I can’t try the trigger.” Still wouldn’t remove it.

Between the two, Id go for the Ruger....

Every sd9 Ive ever messed with has an awful trigger....

Both should be functional pistols though.

Buddy of mine has a sd40ve. Honestly worst trigger I've ever felt. If those are your choices I'd go ruger.

I had a guy walk up to me at a range and ask if he could shoot my g 19 bc he said he had never fired one before. I didn't mind and i cleared it and handed it over. The he says to keep things even, I'll let you shoot mine and pulls out a sd9. We both shot a mag and we were equally surprised. He said he couldn't believe how nice the glock felt in his hand and i could not believe how terrible the trigger was on the smith. Go ruger, your trigger finger will thank you
