Been wanting one for a long while. Never see them on the used market, so I figured what the heck? Prices ain't going down so I pulled the trigger on it this time.

I've handled one before but never owned a lever gun. Looking forward to it.

I'll eventually pickup a BrassStacker RLO no drill sling.

Don't plan on putting an optic on it, but can anyone recommend a peep sight for this? If so, is the rear sight removable? - I've been eyeballing the Skinner receiver mounted peep sight.

I don’t mind the factory sights on mine.

I bought a 22lr Henry Golden Boy. It jammed on every cycle of the lever. I was very disappointed. Sold it.

That's disappointing the hear. All I've read are good reviews on all of them. Wonder if it had some sort of internal issue.

Check this site out. http://www.skinnersights.com/henry_rifles_18.html Friend had one on his and it was nice. Have been debating with myself for years if I want to get one.

I too have that model on my list, snapped up a Rossi at a great price and will add the Henry soon. Get a speed loader for the Henry.

If you have a tube fed .22, you definelty need one of these speed loaders.

Will they work with a silencer installed? Wasn’t sure how much of a angle there could be and it still work properly.

Mine look like this:

I was disappointed in mine. The side plate is painted black and not blued

I like Henry’s well enough as they are American Made and have smooth actions and good triggers. I’ve got a 357 mag steel. Very serviceable. But I bought a Browning BL-22 and had some trigger work done so I’d have a 22 rifle that is old school steel and will be passed down someday,

Difficult to find the Browning BL22 now. Have a an old SA22 Browning, CZ, and I think maybe a Marlin Bolt. A couldn’t decide what lever I liked so a gave up when I was lusting over lever guns.

Yes the BL-22’s are scarce. I stumbled on one with the maple stock at Mid South guns a couple years ago and couldn’t give them my money fast enough.

I was cleaning up some ammo cans about 6 months ago and stumbled across one full of misc. .22 cb's, shorts, and longs and realized I needed something to use them. Got the 22 classic and it's flawless - extremely smooth lever action, accurate, a pleasure to shoot. You'll love it.

Did you contact Henry about the issue?

They stand behind their products and they would’ve made it right.

Another classic that will shoot all types of .22 rimfire cases is the Remington 572 Fieldmaster pump.

CD
I've got a Rem 582. Great bolt gun. I think the 572 is the same design but pump. Mine was made sometime in the 70s. I've got an old Redfield peep on it, and scrounged a few spare bolt parts off GB.

I've always been a fan of bolts and levers as they're not picky about ammo. I suppose same could be said for pump, never considered one.

I hate the way the trigger isn’t attached to the receiver

I hear ya. Some people have trouble with change. The lever throw is very short and fast. Which is fun, but an adjustment too. But it’s a very solid rifle with actual steel and good wood. And now that I had some work done on the trigger it is slick as snot.

Skinner peep with brass insert look great on my Henry.
I have the Henry and Remmy pump - so much fun.

Gonna check oout the speedloaders.

Like my skinner. Helpful customer service. I ordered partridge front sight but realized didn't need it. Take the advice on websight. Also, send them the received cover and they'll tap, install at reasonable price. Read all the skinner web page to find all your options.

I believe the one for the classic model is mounted on the dovetail but I'll double check.

I have an old Redfield dovetail mounted peep from my Rem 582 that I took off to mount my scope. I'm going to see if that works first since I have it lying around. It must be a fairly decent sight because while discontinued they sell for $60 or so used on GB.

Any ideas for a no-drill sling that isn't $100+ ? I like how the leather looks but I'm okay foregoing it for something far cheaper.

This thing is wicked fun. I ran some rounds through it the other day. I'm definitely going to have to fiddle with the sights though. I didn't have a small enough flathead to make adjustments to my peep; I didn't realize there was a super small set-screw that prevented me from moving the elevation. - I took the peep off and ran the stock sights and those were hitting high at 25-50y as well.

Can't wait to actually take it out on a small-game hunt with the kids.

Henry is a great rifle and I almost got one of the Frontier models with the long threaded barrel. I passed on the fancy silver engraved Henry nib or like new for $500 back in 2018... kick myself for that but it was too pretty to shoot and I'm done with collectables. My first 22 was a 39a from 1951 that I got for a song when I was a kid. 336 in 32 special, the 39a and a Pump Stevens shotgun from around 1910 for $275... 20 years ago and that was a lot of money to a broke college kid but by far the best purchase I ever made.

I regret selling the Marlin but i also picked up a bl-22. Love that gun and it does everything I ask it to. It was $600 new last year... my eyes aren't as good as when I was in college and used to routinely practice head shots on squirrels at 40-50 yards but seems to be accurate. No issue with the trigger. Lever 22's are my favorite rifle to play with.

I looked at those BL-22s. Great looking shooter. I've wanted a BLR in 308 for a good while now.

I grabbed a BL-22 in Maple last year. Great rifle with mediocre trigger. Had a buddy do a trigger job for me and now it’s a nice crisp 3-3.5 lbs or so, sweet. Also impulse bought a BLR in 6.5 Creedmor. Nice rifle. Someday I should actually mount the scope I bought huh?

What notch do you guys have your rear sight leaf on for your Henry's? - I didn't have the tools to fiddle with it at the time but I think it was shooting really low at 25. - I'm thinking of adding a pic rail to put a PA micro dot on it.

Mine came with the rear sight all the way down. put it on the next to highest notch and put me on at 35 yards using standard velocity ammo. had to drift the sight over just a smidge. Fun little guns. I have the Frontiers in .22, .22 wmr and .17HMR. I have tang mounted peeps on those.
