Hi! Is that a thing for the 365 now as well? I am asking because a guy at work was considering that model but now has second thoughts.

There is a TON of talk about P320 issues but only a little about P365 issues from what I found?

Any input would be appreciated.

About 3 weeks ago, we were sitting at the table and heard a very loud bang from back where the safe is. Immediately I said to myself "oh no, the p320".

I dashed across the house and ran to the room with the safe, fumbling to work the dial and get it unlocked. Once I got it open, I inspected the entire safe for bullet holes, checked the p320 and saw there wasn't a round in the chamber and everything seemed okay with it.

"Strange", I thought to myself. What could that noise have been?

Turns out, the wind released a good size branch from a neighboring tree on to the roof. Thankfully not only did the p320 not spontaneously discharge, but the branch didn't cause any damage either.

Moral of the story, if you hear a loud bang, and you are in the general proximity of a p320, it's okay to assume the worst, but you should always hope for the best.

The only issues I am aware of was with the early model strikers dragging and breaking. Best I can tell they have fixed that issue.

The other is tolerance stacking between the grip module with the fire control unit. Basically some guns may have a little movement between the two when the trigger is pressed.

Similar to the trigger taking up slack and then hitting the wall. But all you did was move the fire control unit back and hit the grip module. There are several ways to correct it. The best I found is to buy a Wilson Combat grip module, and problem solved. Don’t waste your time call Sig, according to them there isn’t an issue and will not do anything.

Thx! Any more input?
Do NOT buy the regular sized (smallest) p365. It is tiny and not enjoyable to shoot. Unless your buddy has midget hands, it sucks. Unless it’s for pocket carry or something weird. The slightly larger ones are still easily concealable.

You can 100% shoot the small guy accurately and quickly, but the next step up in frame/slide length is just as concealable and more of a joy to shoot. Still has the same super long trigger pull though.

Just my 2 cents.

Unsolicited advice: Had the p365 and sold it for the G43x with the 15 round mag setup. Leaps and bounds better for ME. If he has the ability to try each one first, I would.

I personally haven't heard of any ongoing 365 issues. The early striker problems are resolved, and if there are 320 style concerns with ADs, I haven't heard of them.

The XL and XMacro are pretty dang nice, super limited time on them though.

I carry (and shoot quite often) both the p365xl and the p365 Macro Tacops. Quick History - I had originally carried the first p365 for about 18mos when it came out. Enamored by the capacity to size. Found that I never shot it at the range, always instead preferring larger pistols (I consistently shoot 700-1000 rounds 9mm alone each month). So I sold it. Then picked up the XL in Feb 2022 and later the Tacops which are both quite shootable yet easy-to-conceal. For optics: Holosun 407k on the XL and EPS Carry on the Tacops.

Edit: I have not seen any reports of problems with the p365 variants auto-discharging as with the p320 models.

Did you actually think a gun just laying in the safe went off? I’ve heard of a lot of types of discharges, but never one where a gun just went off laying on a sholf

Never heard of a P365 going off on its own.

With that said, I've added a manual safety to mine, because the gun has a light trigger pull and doesn't have any kind of trigger dingus safety. I carry appendix, and if I were to ever somehow mess up reholstering (I always "look it in", tilt my hips forward, etc., but still...) I want there to be another failsafe in place. I think the likelihood of some freak event where a tiny object gets into the holster at the last second is honestly at least as great as the likelihood that I would ever actually need to use the gun defensively, given my lifestyle.

I carry a P365 with a hotrodded trigger in a Remora pocket holster every day. Never a single issue.

There's a video where a guy is holstering his gun in an OWB holster for concealed carry and a corner of his jacket gets caught in the trigger guard in the process, causing a discharge.

I have a 365 and a 365xl.. Trigger on my 365 feels a bit more sensitive than the 365xl but both still behave themselves. Love them both.

Whachoo talkin about Willis? Your looking for an issue that isn't happening?

That's hilarious!
You must not have had much to do yesterday.:D;)

My 365 is in the safe unloaded right now….its sleeping I guess..zzzz. But it hasn’t ever prematurely uh….fired off a round. Nor has my Glock 43 or my Glock 19X on my hip. Nor did my P320 when I had it. I just didn’t shoot it well so it got gone.

I'd question whether he was using a correct holster for his weapon and whether it appropriately covered the trigger. Mine is unmodified from the factory and the trigger is not a very heavy trigger. If the trigger wasn't covered, then somewhere in the process of pulling up his pants, he somehow applied pressure on the trigger.

I've never heard anything about P365 negligent discharges before seeing the link above, but I seriously doubt that it discharged on its own just as he was pulling his pants up. It's more likely that it either started to fall out of the holster and he grabbed it, or he took it out of the holster while on the can, and either a finger or something else was inside the trigger guard when he stuck it back in the holster.

When micro compact 9mm pistols became popular, I got a Glock 43 because I carried Glocks for a long time. Then I got a 48 and a 43X because Glock and because more is better. Then I got a P365 and wish I hadn't wasted time and money on small Glocks. All that being said, I suggest he try different pistols to see what fits his needs best.

This fits mine.
