Looking for a summer carry gun. I had decided on the g43x but think I’m going to give the p365 a go.

Can anyone recommend the 365 over the 365X?

What are the real differences, sakes holsters, mags, sights?

The “X” is the only way to get an optic cut out of the factory with the short slide. I wanted a 365 with optic so I bought. An X and was going to buy a grip module but ended up liking the longer grip.
You also get the flat faced trigger which is nice.
In retrospect I would have bought a FCU and “built” my own. Doesn’t save any $ but I would have been fun to do.

Does it take the same holster as the standard p365

The optics-ready version of the standard P365 has been available for some time now in both 9mm and .380 versions. No need to mix and match uppers and lowers.

I had (and still have) a P365 and love it; it’s my go-to when I want to carry a semi. When I heard about the 356XL coming out, I thought I’d love it even more, and I asked FG&G to call me when they received their first one. I was thrilled, but after shooting it I found I didn’t like it nearly as much as the plain 365; among other things, the slide was much harder to rack. Nothing functionally wrong with it but I just didn’t get on with the XL, and sold it once I determined that I was not going to come around to it. Might just have been my particular examples, and I am a sample of one, but handguns are very personal, and you don’t always like the ones you expect to like.

I would recommend the 365 X because it has the longer grip frame and the optic cut. If you're looking for the smallest version possible, and have no interest in using optics, then I'd go with the 365.

The holsters may be different. If you go with the 365 X, make sure the holster is made with an optic relief cut.

They should be the same. I’m currently using a TRex arms holster with the 365 my buddy used with his 365x before he sold it.

Definitely the X. The tiny bit of added grip length makes it much more controllable and comfortable to shoot. More rounds in the gun, optic cut and yes they both use the same holster.

Here’s my 365X next to my Xmacro

It is available (finally) although listed as “new” on Sig website. When I bought mine in November it was not an option.
Really no reason not to get optic’s ready in this day and age with a semiautomatic pistol.

They can still be tricky to find in stock locally, but you can get the "TACPAC" online pretty easily with 3 mags and a throw away holster for $549 right now.

I’ve had variations of both the X, XL, and 365. I settled on a 365 with a Wilson Combat X grip module. For me the 12 rd mag is the way to go, and I don’t have any preference for a flat trigger or optic mount. Even with the X grip module the gun fits perfectly in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. This combo fits just fine in a front pocket or a cargo pocket.

Standard P365 w/ optic cut
Horosun 407k/507k
TLR-7 Sub

The straight trigger on the X/XL is more like an angled trigger and the bigger the P365 gets, it loses what makes it great. There is no better size/firepower ratio in the size category which is why I still have them despite hating modern Sig Sauer on a molecular level.

Most of the benefit in my thinking to a 365 is the small size with decent capacity. Start messing with that ratio and other options can make as much or better sense. I bought a 365 to fill the small gun niche. Adding size makes it less good for my purposes.

Yeah I always see people buying on size then making it bigger and wanting the bigger gun because it shoots better. Just gotta be aware of the compromises when it comes to guns that small. For me I'd get the X because I can't cope well with short grips and its easy enough to conceal any of these. I'm a pinky extension on magazine type guy.

Adding a light to a pocket pistol defeats the propose of having a pocket pistol.

What if I told you the P365 isn't a pocket pistol?

My vote is 365 optic ready version. Then use 12 round mags, and you have the “x” grip length. While still maintaining the ability to go to flush 10 round mags for maximum concealment. If you don’t like that you can always get an X grip lower for 60 bucks from Sig and run it like that. It’s not like a Glock where the serial numbers won’t match, when you get to customizing, for the OCD ones of us here.

I would say it's still a pocket pistol....

Even then, the reason for the these types of small guns, is the small size and weight, ease of concealment. Add a light defeats the purpose.

Over half your life is spent in darkness, power grids go down with heavy winds/rain, it only takes another momentary bright light to ruin your natural night vision, and they mostly come out at night... mostly.

The WML is the absolute best investment for any swinging Richard that carries a handgun.

Not on my CCW gun, my night stand pistol and rifle have them.

I got the 365X that came from SIG with the Romeo red dot. The only problem that I have with it is the size of the grip. It is too small for me and that one does not have changeable back straps. I had to get some tennis grip tape to wrap around the handle to hold on to it.

Here is why my CCW must have a flashlight except snubs.

Parents live out in BFE. Had to go out to the garage to grab something at night about 50 yards from the house door on a late visit. Just about to the garage when I hear movement in the leaves behind the garage. I can't see it because it's on the other side of the garage. Only have a G26 with a front night site and it's new moon phase. Decide that I'll unlock the garage, open the door, turn on the shop lights, and see what it is. The thing starts moving again is in front of me but ducks behind a thicket about 20 yards away. I move one step forward and the garage motion light blinds the fudge out of my night-adjusted eyes. I can't see what it is because it's pitch black in the thicket while everything in my area is lit up. A coyote pops out the thicket and tears butt back into the woods.

I took away that if the coyote was a human with a Hi-point, I would have been shot because I no longer had night vision and no way to concentrate light on the target making it irrelevant. A perfect sight picture doesn't really mean anything when you can't see your target. At a 2.5oz weight, I cannot find any reason to NOT roll with a 500lumen TLR-7 Sub if your carry handgun is capable. Also, it would technically help break up the pattern of a pistol if you were going to pocket carry it.

Over 24 hours in MS Paint. Full moon was used for artistic purposes for the narrative with full disclosure.

Have you tried replacing it with the Wilson Combat grip module? Makes a world of difference.20230330_192041.jpg

I can see your need for a light.

I have the Hogue slip-on grip for the P365XL. As someone who normally despises anything rubbery/sticky when it comes to pistol grips, it has zero play/movement (had to place in boiling water to make it fit), and adds just the right amount of extra depth/width to the grip for it to feel just right for me. It's been on my XL for years now, and hasn't gotten tacky/sticky feeling, either.

The disk
I think that the serial # is stamped in the grip. When I get home, I need to check on it. Where did you find the Wilson grip?

Thanks,
The serial number on the 365 is on the FCU. It is separate from the module. Super easy to take apart.
You can get them here

Here's a video for installation

That’s my choice as well. I really like the Wilson module and with the 12 round mag, the grip is plenty long

The Wilson Grip module is great! Add a trigger from Tactical Triggers and you will have one fine shooting machine.
