I know a guy who built a P80 17 clone and he’s having random failure to eject issues. A stove pipe every 3-4 mags. An internet search found this could be an ejector related issue. Maybe switch from the gen 3 ejector to a gen 4 will resolve this? Anyone here had and resolved a similar situation?

Does your friend limp wrist the gun or is he a manly man with a burly grip?
Has he tried handing off the pistol to others to see it it will malfunction for them?

My wife can induce stovepipe jams in a Hk USP that's notoriously reliable for me.

I don’t think it’s limp wristing, but to my knowledge no one else has shot this build but him. I will advise him of that.

Weak mag spring can cause that too.

I have a P80 / G19 build that was having occasional feed / ejection issues. It had a pretty tight fit between the slide and frame so I spent a lot of time just racking it over and over. It's running better now, put about 150 rounds through it last weekend with no misfeeds. The ejection is consistent but still seems sort of weak. So figure I'll either keep shooting it and see if it loosens up a bit more or just swap out the recoil spring. May be cheaper to just get a new spring...

Maybe set up a phone to take a slow motion video while shooting and then play back the FTE to see if that offers up any clues.

For anyone interested.
The fix was replacing the generic plastic guide rod with a different generic plastic guide rod.
The gen 3 ejector was replaced with a gen 4. It didnt fix the stove pipes, but brass ejection is consistent and not in your face.
