Being in NY I am keenly aware of how anti-gun many are and even more anti-gun people are to anything black or “scary looking”. So I wanted to start taking our main house guns and making them a fudd-looking as possible starting with the setup for my wife - a 10/22 compact.
I first did a test on the pellet gun i shoot in the backyard all the time. Results were good so then I did the 10/22.
It’s a base coat of “warm caramel”, then dark walnut stain brushed on with a chip brush, then a clear coat. I wasn’t looking for a tough finish, I messed up a couple places and I’m sure they’ll scrape off as they get used, but I am pleased with the results. Definitely more fudd-like.
