Need to be careful here. As you pointed out, the media, big tech, etc, which is on their side will spin the propaganda. Use of coercive force can also backfire. Instead of intimidating someone into submission they may in turn go after you, your family, or even a third party that they see is on your side. A good term for it would be Unintended Consequences (hint: the book). It's much as @JimB I believe it was put it: if the response to their throwing bricks and water bottles was deadly force you only guarantee that next time the rioters will be armed with guns and IEDs.

Agree fully about who is behind these events and all the more reason to go after them.

I did not mean to necessarily us DF. Water cannons come to mind. Wash them into the next block!

Or better yet wait out the protestor/thug until a true leader comes to light then smoke his/her butt and let the followers go live in peace. If Germany had used this rule Hitler would have never got to the podium. Same applies for any tyrant.
The ability/necessity to protest is as strong a form of government as any written document. We will survive this bump in the road and become stronger for having survived another challenge to our liberty.

Look at the Islamic terror organizations - you take out the leader and what happens? Someone else steps up.
Do not compare this to Nazi-controlled Germany or any other 'normal' war/situation. This is an ideology, it doesnt die with the leader.

Exactly. There's no charismatic "head" for antifa. There is leadership within them, but they follow an ideology first.

In addition to targeting the rioters, they need to look at the people and groups funding this home grown terrorism, and the folks responsible for teaching a generation of youth to be communist revolutionaries.

Agreed. I have seen a lot of discussion in right wing circles asking various versions of the question of how do we stand up to this, or how do we defeat it, along with the whole "cancel culture" and all the other tactics. Unfortunately I haven't seen anyone have a good answer. Instead everyone seems to be retreating, out of the cities, arming up and preparing should they need to defend themselves, which god help you if you're wind up in the range of a legal system that is part of or sympathetic to this BLM/Antifa crap, such as the MO duo getting a local persecutor that was bought by Soros.
 
There are a lot of people wanting to be 'leaders' for this cause, in part because we enable it by not doing anything about it, allowing it to happen. Taking out the queen bee sure is helpful, but sometimes you have to take out the hive. That means not just taking care of the participants, but also the infrastructure, the enablers, the money, the support.
 
Some of the stuff I read on this forum has never been in line with actual life. I wonder if even a small percentage have been in beat downs. An organized law enforcement with clubs splitting open heads tends to make people rethink decisions they have yet to be punished for. Will there be retaliation? Who gives a f...

At present?...yes, not do a thing but let it run it’s course until there is a true leader and a stated intent, then the game changes but no feds. The Patriot Act gives our government the right to run free at the declaration of a terrorist group. No one wants to be labeled as such, us or them. Once done declared you are no longer at liberty rather the opposite as we all know. We lived through the Vietnam period with harm but managed to see a better day and this current form of protest will run it’s course with patience and understanding. Change is on the horizon and if we do as before the country will be OK despite all the finger pointing and bickering both sides can muster. Our country was founded on protest and it’s principles so enjoy the show, it will be soon be replaced by some other news worthy event.

Did the Vietnam protests damage as much property as these folks have? Did they 'take over' multiple city blocks and not allow others in?

What if a 'trule leader' is ever really established? We just wait it out as they destroy?

Easy to say when its not at your front door or community. So its that old saying “not affecting me.” That’s how manufacturing moved to ChiNa.
 
I'll elaborate - ON, why do you think it'll just phase out if the gov leaves them be? Is that what happened in the CHAZ/CHOP? Is that what happened when others took note and started their own? That it just phased out and went away?
By the gov not doing anything it only strengthens their ideas to do it more, a form of appeasement.
To be ok with this is, in my opinion, not good.

I believe the citizens got tired of CHAZ/CHOP and demanded that the city do something about it? How long would it take for the morons in Portland to get tired of all the rioting, who knows? I still say pull all federal workers out and tell Portland that any repairs to Fed properties will be coming out of any federal funds that they receive.

If memory serves me right one of my friends was a Winston Salem cop that served during the Vietnam timeframe and by his words there was plenty of action at times that rivaled the Detroit/LA riots of the time so yes there was as much if not more than the present day riots. Also back then there was a lot more gun play on both sides.

It has nothing to do with not caring, just being patient enough to let things run it’s course. There is nothing new about this type of action by the thugs, it just takes LE time to sort things out. Now if you think taking the law in your own hands is the way to go, don’t, time always plays on the side of those lawfull.
