Yes, it's more than beans and bullets. But, if after all that hard work and time spent preparing your stores, to realize all of it and the lives of your loved ones can be taken from you, then you better know how to defend it. There are those whose plan for survival is to take from others. I knew one.
To me it's food, shelter and defense. I periodically assess where the current weakest point is and focus on bringing that aspect up to par with the rest.

Just sayin'

ETA: It's a continual progression. Always more to add. Shelter includes building and repair supplies. And after you think you have enough for you, start adding for others.
