The PHA Defensive Pistol match is back, but renamed to the Action Pistol Match. We will be feeling things out for the first couple of matches given we’re not sure how many will be showing up and therefore how much time to invest into stage design/complexity, but the objective is a “shoot what you got” match with challenging stages and IDPA style scoring (time + penalties).

The next match is Saturday, June 26th, 2021.

The match will consist of 5 stages with steel (10+ yards) and paper targets (1-25+ yards), movement, reloading, etc. *IF* the stage is defensive themed, it will rely on stage design and fault lines vs cover calls as this is harder to enforce fairly. Most stages will allow creativity in how you want to shoot it within stage specifications.

If you can show up early, any help setting up stages would be greatly appreciated. Plan on spending 15 minutes at the end of the match to help break down stages as well.

When:Every 4th Saturday (weather permitting)
Cost:$10 (cash only)
Schedule:Registration: 9:00
Safety Briefing: 9:45
Shooting: 10:00 – 1:00 (ish)
Location:Piedmont Handgunners Association
10346 S North Carolina Hwy 150
Linwood, NC 27299
Equipment / Ammo:At a minimum shooters will need a reliable and safe pistol, a holster, spare magazines or speed loaders, eye and ear protection, and 150 rounds of ammunition (just to be safe, you will likely use less).

On the high side, a stage may have 25+ rounds (not counting any make ups) … so ensure you have enough magazines / speed loaders to handle this. Most of the time it will be possible to complete a stage with less rounds.

Recommend you also bring water, sunscreen, etc.
Stages:5 stages
Divisions:Compact (capacity < 10)
Stock (capacity ³ 10)
Open (optics, comps/ports, or other competition specific features such as large funnel magwells)
Rimfire
Revolver

Great! Glad to see you back doing it man.

Glad to see this is back. I’ve been on the fence for a few years and just never came out. I’m busy this month but am planning on coming out for July’s match.

Isaac asked me to post scoring, see attached.

Pretty sure stage design will minimize chance of procedurals … don’t hit a hostage!
