----------------------------------------------------

The PHA Tactical Match is held on the 3rd Saturday of the month at 10:00 AM, weather permitting. Match fees are as follows:

$20 regular competitor
$15 PHA member
$15 LE/Military

The match consists of five stages. Stages involve the use of rifle and pistol in a USPSA-esque practical shooting environment. Total round count for the match is no more than 200 combined (rifle and pistol).

Shooters are divided into five divisions, based on their rifle: Centerfire Optics, Centerfire Irons, Pistol-Caliber Carbine, Heavy Metal, and Rimfire. Pistols are unrestricted and may be used in any class.

Setup: 8 AM
Registration Opens: 8:45 AM
Range Officer Walkthrough: 9:30 AM
Safety Briefing: 9:45 AM
Match Start: 10 AM
Match End: 3-4 PM

During the Tactical Match we run a cold range. When not shooting, all firearms must be unloaded with chambers empty and magazines out. Chamber flags must be showing in all rifles. If you don't have a chamber flag, they are available at the match.

NO ARMOR PIERCING OR GREEN TIP PENETRATOR RIFLE ROUNDS ON STEEL TARGETS!

I will be there along with my pops again. Really enjoyed the last one. Anyone else going? If so what squad are yal in?

Not sure if I am gonna make this one but I might.

@NKD hope ya do. Had a ball last time and you help answer all my stupid questions! Lol

Dude I love talking guns, and although I have a lot to learn myself, I'll happily share whatever I have learned in my time shooting.

I, too, had a good time. I like that matcha lot!

Stage 4 preview.

Total minimum round count this month is 90 rifle/33 pistol.

We're still looking for a few more range officer and Saturday morning setup volunteers. RO and setup volunteers will shoot the match for free.

If you more experienced folks will pardon my rookie questions, I have a few about my rig.
1- Do I need a sling for my rifle?
2- What means do you use for carrying rifle mags? Can I just stuff them in my pockets?
3- Would eyeglasses suffice, or do I need saftey glasses? Are earplugs sufficient or do I need muffs?

I have some gear, but I need more (but don't we all!). I appreciate any advice y'all wanna throw at me.

1) No, in fact they can be a hinderance, but if you want to you can.
2) You may carry spare rifle mags in pockets.
3) Eyeglasses are ok. I would suggest impact resistance if you continue.
Plugs are A ok, just keep back when someone with a comp/brake steps up. Not a big deal no one crowds the line anyway.

Need a chamber flag for the rifle, they used to hand out trimmer string if you didn't have one, would guess they still do.

image.jpeg I think the AR is going to sit in the safe this time... The bolt should be loud enough for the timer.

Weather is looking solid. Pack a lunch and water; to my knowledge Ruth will not be cooking tomorrow.

See you in the morning!

I just have to say that this was the best 2 gun I have ever shot at PHA. The stages were challenging, without any gimmicks. The stage design was smooth with enough no shoots and hard cover to make you slow down in certain areas. There were a few leans and few ports, and a few targets that I just walked right past without even shooting them. :D for those that know me, that's not a big surprise.

As always, the people that we shoot with are just a Joy to be around. Great job Dan, I look forward to next month.

Agreed - this match was very well done and I sent Dan a note saying so. Timely, great stages, well run.

A couple of times I did not set up in a position correctly and thought - "Crap, he got me". I haven't shot this match in a while and wasn't prepared for the technical side of some of the stages.

I'll be ready next time ... hopefully :)

You took out the barrier nicely tho!
Yep. I threw that aimpoint on the rifle that morning so I was aiming about 2 inches all around the target trying to figure out where to aim. The dang thing ended up being dead on. I didn't hit the stupid thing until I aimed directly at it. Imagine that. I guess you can't fix stupid.:D

Hahaha!

Dang, I resemble that style of zeroing. I call it the twelve/three/six/nine zero.
