I haven't had a chance to try to zero this yet, so I'm wondering in advance if the elevation has enough range to adjust to a 25-yard zero while being at 1/3 co-witness height on an AR-15. It's about 1.63" above the rail, so about 2.88" above the bore. The red dot is a Holosun 507C. I'm planning to use it with a .22LR conversion kit. Just checking if anyone has had experience with this setup before I waste my time or break something. (I have a rifle red dot, but it's being used elsewhere, and I like the reticle on the pistol red dot. I like the reticle more on a rifle than on a pistol.)

I also like a the reticle better for a carbine.

I used one on an 11.5” lightweight 556 and it has performed well. But I used a 200 yard zero. Sorry, not much help with 25.

But should take seconds to confirm by visually doing a bore sighting.

I have a Romeo 5 on an Extar 9mm that is at least that tall and is zeroed at 25yds. No issues. It seems to hit fine at 25 and 100. 200 is doable with some holdover.

I haven't examined it's POI at any other range because....it's an Extar...

I've got a $99 Riton on a 9mm PCC zeroed at maybe 15 yards. It's fine.

I have a holosun 507 mounted on top of an ACOG, that's also on a spacer, so it's even higher than 2.26 CL. No issues with zeroing at 50 what that extreme mechanical offset.

Okay, if that works then my setup will work! Thanks! I did consider trying the 507 on top of a scope, but I also wanted to reduce the weight. Also considered a 45* offset mount, but it might be irritating if it doesn't center over the bore. So I ended up with a 0.83" riser.

Ah, thanks for mentioning bore sighting. That will save some ammo!

Yeah you should be golden!

A nice lightweight carbine is so nice.

On my scoped rifle, I tried a 45 offset for a while, it wasn't my favorite personally. Doesn't help that the rifle I had it on has a Nox muzzle device that gave it a goofy recoil impulse when canted. Top mounted ended up being the move for me, but ymmv.

An Extar is what is tying up my rifle red dot! I love that thing!

I used the Holosun low mount and a 0.5" riser since the pic rail is already elevated. It does have an issue with the red dot being physically out of alignment with the backup sights though. I wanted a lower 1/3 co-witness, but the front sight is off to one side a bit when the dot is centered. The irons and red dot work fine separately though.

I have an HS407CO X2 (the 8MOA ring) on my AR-V since I am trying to keep it as light as possible. Plenty of adjustment range left with a 25 yard zero. One of the house guns, and I absolutely love the setup.

Good to know! The 8 MOA circle seems like it would work better for me. The chevron just draws my focus to the point making it harder to target focus, and a 2 MOA dot is too small for me in some cases.

I was also looking at the AR-V a while back. Seems pretty nice.

Even with my astigmatism, the donut stays nice and clear, and I can see it clearly even weary-eyed. My AR-V had major issues out of the gate, but they rectified that with new bolt/BCG.

Nice. I heard that prism optics also work with astigmatism.

Was the AR-V part just defective or did they change the design?

Just defective and was getting worse with round count. It would FTE constantly resulting in a stuck case being jammed up against the feed round. I think I only had FTF after they sent it back, and it just hung up on the feed ramp which I've since polished.

Glad that it worked out. Do you know if it feeds hollow points?
