I might want to get a new upper. I'm looking for quality, factory assembled, and lightweight. I've found a Faxon Ion but it has a fixed brake. That's a no go. I want threads on the barrel.
$1000 budget, but cheaper is better...but I value weight savings over over money savings on this thing.

Also, needs a BCG and buffer. Not opposed to a system like JP sells. I stopped buying AR stuff 7 years back so I'm behind the times on what's out there.

Oooooo. I found something. Memorial day sales too. Gotta grab a card and get typing.

And if you want a truly lightweight rifle that takes AR mags I recommend the Keltec Su16. It's got some flaws and is not a rifle for a high volume shooter, but it weighs sod all and folds up to fit in a backpack.

ARs are all lightweight pretty much, then we stick 20lbs of stuff on there lol
A non-vet buddy asked me once the whys & what fors of folks mounting a gun store's entire accessories aisle on their ARs & what he should get for his. I told him you could spot the guy who'd never toted one for a living by the amount of crap hanging off his AR.

I am that guy but I am also lazy enough to keep it to a handstop/foregrip for good hand placement, an optic and mayyyybe a magnifier. Even then the magnifier comes off unless I need it because qd and no sighting in needed.

2A has “lightweight” stuff and has a factory complete upper. 3lb6oz with BCG and charging handle in 16 inch. $800

V Seven is totally lightweight AR parts. They make full guns too, but don’t think they sell assembled uppers.

Delton has a lightweight carbine length upper that serves me well. A lot of the guys around here have them in their trucks because of the weight.

Shorter barrel equals less weight from barrel and rail (and technically gas tube as well). So... 10.3"? Or a 7.5" Diablo piston gun!
