I'm currently using HS6 for my open Glock. The gun is a G17 with Carver Custom optic mount, and their 3 port comp. Atm I'm using 124gr coated bullets with 6.4gr of HS6. It's dirty..... Very dirty. As in I have to wipe off my optic every 100 rounds. Is there another powder I should try? Thanks

I have been using Titegroup for years in my Glock 9mms, suppressed and unsuppressed, 124gr and 147gr, RN, FP, and HP

CFE Pistol is another good one

First, ditch the coated boolits.
No way you can put enough crimp on them without cutting thru the coating.
(I've fought this same fight)
I buy 124gr FMJ/TMJ now.
I like coated, but not for 9mm major.

The charge of HS6 you list seems low.
Have you run it over a chron?
HS6 burns much cleaner with a slight compression and a firm crimp.

You may give Autocomp a try also.
I use VV3N38, and with a firm crimp, a FMJ and a larger than life charge, it is fairly clean.
It's basically a fast rifle powder.

ATM I'm in minor. That's why the lower powder charge. I have a aftermarket barrel but it's not rated for major loads. I will be getting a kkm barrel when funds show up :)

I will see if I can find some 124gr fmj to try out. I still have 3k of the coated to get through. Thanks!

If you are going to stick with minor go with autocomp. For major loads 3n38 is definitely the best powder, but I will give accurate #7 an honorable mention. It works the comp as good as 3n38 but burns so slow it leaves a few unburned powder granules in the barrel.

According to viht’s website you can make major with a book load 147 XTP even at a starting charge and out of a 4” barrel. YMMV.

For those listing fast powders (titegroup cleanshot) I agree and run heavy boolits and fast powders but think you’re missing what the OP is after which is a slow powder to create more gas and work the comp.
