Besides things like firearm proficiency and describing some general usage of supplies, how would you prepare your wife if you were going away for 6-12mths?
Lots of good, practical advice. Here's some good, PERSONAL advice:
Pay it forward on 6 to 12 months of sexual antics.
Put together some gifts, cards, etc. and hide them in various places so she can get to them when you tell her where they're at. Kinds of like hidden care packages.
Put together a treasure hunt, with a really cool prize at the end, and a way to get her started on this at some point. For example, a card delivered to her with something personal you've written in it for her. It contains a clue leading her to another destination, where she'll find something, like a pair of tickets for her and her sister (or whomever) to go to a concert/dinner/movie. After that, maybe a few other destinations...like a manicure/pedicure, massage, etc.
Set up to have flowers delivered on certain dates.
Leave a shirt, sweater, etc. that you've worn for a day and not washed. (NOT a pile of dirty laundry, mind you! Or something disgusting...just something you've worn that smells of you and your cologne/deodorant.) She may keep it so she can smell your presence.
