PSA: fill your gas tanks tonight/tomorrow morning

Well somehow my wife and I earned an FRN quarter off per gallon twice last week, just in time. 20 gal went into the Burb and 20 gal went into wife's car and cans.

What did hurt was $3.26/gal premium into the boy's ride. That thing is getting 89 octane every other tank (91 oct recommended) at these prices.

If he keeps his foot out of it he could run 89 all the time. If not, run 89 and hope the knock sensor works.

yeah it's a VR6 with no forced induction so I'm sure it'll be fine. Mixing 93 and 89 in equal parts fulfills the recommendation on the fuel filler door, and I'm sure this car would throw codes from hell if knock was detected.
Previous owner was running 89 all the time, but he also got shiat for mpg also. He's getting upwards of 25MPG with the fresh Mobil 1 and good Shell gas so I'm loathe to change anything.

At least its not $3.60 like it was just a few short years ago. It was around that time I just stopped looking at the price of gas, and just accepted its going to be expensive.

In reality, prices are cheaper than much of the Obamanation era so suck it up til you develop alternative means of transport....like teleportation

I'd love to see the numbers. Elevated prices, semi-panic buying, holiday buying. I bet it was a hefty profit.
This is what "the numbers" look like:

Well you know, it won't be long and they will jack it up again in preparation of changing over to the winter time blend

Interesting side note to the "summer vs. winter blend", which I think is complete bullsh*t....

Just for grins and giggles, I filled up a few cans (enough for two tankfulls) with summer blend gas and ran it during the winter. Had an increase of around 5-6 mpg vs using winter blend in the winter. Did the same in summer...ran a couple tanks of winter blend with the same results....5-6 mpg increase over running summer "gas" in the summer.

@wsfiredude surely you're not suggesting the producers would ever do anything to lower the efficiency of the product so that you had to buy more of it?

Surely not...

That would be greedy and I'm certain they're above that type of behavior.

Closest place to use dropped about $.10 sometime over the weekend. Just checked it on Gas Buddy and it's back up to $2.59.

There's not a lot of gas stations in Southport, but of those that are there I saw none that had gas. Or, maybe I should say selling gas.

Maybe they have gas in the ground and waiting for the price to jump next week. Who, me distrusting? Nah!

I get gas in Whiteville when I am going and leaving Oak Island. Shell station across from Hardees. Usually openly carrying also...seems to work [emoji16]

GoGas on 17 in Hampstead was out of gas this afternoon but had diesel. GoGas in Burgaw was the same this evening.
