PSA: fill your gas tanks tonight/tomorrow morning

Price of regular was up this morning, but the Mustang "requires" premium. It was already ridiculous before all this, so who cares about $3 a gallon?
I feel your pain. Same with my kid's Jetta VR6. However, he must understand this better than I did at 16 because he texted yesterday and said "Dad I'm getting 25-26 MPG average" lol. That was a proud dad moment.
The car was averaging 15MPG with the previous owner, so I replaced the air filter and 5.5 qts of Mobil 1 0W40 syn oil and filled it up on premium and it made a 10 MPG difference.

There isn't such a thing as 'price gouging' in a free market. Manipulated markets ensure a first come first serve manufactured shortage. If the cost goes up to $6 a gallon, every refinery in the Western hemisphere will be putting gasoline on ships, planes, trains, boats and anything else that will haul a few thousand gallons and moving it to the East Coast ASAP. Thus lowering the demand, and the price.

We lost everything to Andrew except what we were able to load into our geo storm (lol, yeah I know it was the last "car" I ever bought for a reason). We evacuated to ormand beach and had some fantastic surfing. That was until the 18' tiger shark decided to come check us out... Then it was "SEE YA!"

I don't think many who lived through and survived Andrew will ever forget that storm. I remember seeing aerial pictures of Homestead. It looked like Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped.

The top of the NHC wind speed monitor was ripped off around 150mph IIRC. Still, Andrew was a tiny storm compared to this one and Katrina. Hit the most vunerable part of So. FL for effect though. I remember just driving thru on the way to the keys and just seeing rubble everywhere. Looked like Syria

Indeed it did.

We were heading back down and the highway was closed to southbound traffic except for those that could prove they lived there. Trooper told us how bad it was before we got close to home (about 4 blocks from the air base) and how we shouldn't bother going there was literally nothing left. He was right.

There was a building about 7 miles from our house that had a special Italian granite facade that wasn't anywhere else around. We had a chunk of that rock in what used to be our living room, just to give some idea of how far crap flew...

Two days ago I had my truck tires rotated and on the way back I filled up for $2.17/gal.

My youngest daughter is about to have her 1st kid and lives in Raleigh. So, as a precaution I went to fill up two 5gal containers and top off the truck to enable us to get there and back.

Same station, it's now $2.59. Only one car at each pump.

Work at Duke Hospital. Gas on Erwin Rd was $2.29 this morning at 7am. Last week it was $2.19. Just walked back from the hospital and saw it was now $2.49

Like last time, there won't be an issue until or unless panic buying sets in and exacerbates the situation.
since the pipeline is shut off, it will happen faster. And of course it will happen in Charlotte faster than outlying areas. Good SHTF simulation IMO.

Was $2.16 in New Bern yesterday morning and $2.45 yesterday afternoon. About the same as everywhere else.

$2.59 - $2.63 is what I'm seeing in Clt this morning.
up from 2.35 yesterday.....

They might as well go ahead and hike it on up past $5 because after labor day oblivious drivers get wind of this, that's where we are headed.

Great, considering I made reservations for an RV trip for next weekend.

Thankfully it's only an hour away.

How many gallons and where do you get them?
14 gallons and I got mine from Amazon. I'll check at lunch, but I think they are called Flomax or something along those lines.

Just got 89 octane ethanol free for 2.69, regular 87 was 2.59, 89 was 2.92 so I guess I got a deal
if you factor in I got 10% more fuel for ten cents a gallon, plus the octane. Not sure it will matter on my 5.3 Suburban but I know it will get better mileage from real fuel and not E-10.

I hope you don't think I was making light of hurricane damage or mocking those who lose any/every thing to them. Quite the contrary. I know the force of them and know they are deadly. It's the lack of response and proper preparation for them that pisses me off. You had the foresight to cram into a Geo Storm and get the crap outta Dodge! I sat in Central Florida and observed quite a nice day that morning from my school bus stop--it was weird and I remember it still today.

There's a video of a woman that got a CNN mic shoved in her face just as she came walking into a refuge center in Houston, where she blows up at the reporter...and rightfully so. But in her "interview" before she blows up, she goes on a story about how she waited for days for the police to come get her. I'm thinking: I'll be dog-gone'ed if I put the well-being of myself and my family (she had two or three kids in tow) in the hands of others. I know, I know...most of us here on this forum are of a different cloth than the average sheep.

$2.19 for Premium at Costco. They were having an issue with their regular pumps...So they sold premium for the price of regular!

They actually give away alot of octane in regular gas since its by far the most by volume. 87 is a minimum...

No change here in Charleston as of yet.

We will be taking the Accord to Charlotte this weekend. I think we can make it there and back on one tank.

Not at all. Was just adding on to your statement because I totally agree. If you see the finger of God coming directly at you... LEAVE

My local out in the country was 2.50 when I passed a few minutes ago.... Lol glad my tank is full.

On a side note I drive a 2014 optima. I have 5 gallons that is 8 months old, was treated with stabilizer. Smells normal. Would I be good to put into my car?

Lines are getting long here in CLT. Travel weekend + Hurricane + whiff of a scare = every-damn-body heading to the pumps at lunch.

Fuel injection doesnt have many issues with old gas. Its the carbed engines that crap out on it. I would add some more stabil to it and let er eat
