Got a letter from the High Sheriff detailing a new process for renewing my CCW.

pretty much the same routine in Henderson County. The in-person meeting was super quick and nonsense free (apart from the whole 'you need a CHP' in the first place).

What's with the 60 days and needing another class. Never heard of that one before.

You'll probably be getting a new Sheriff shortly so it may change again. Hicks is extremely pro gun so if he wins it could go back to same day permits and a stream lined system.

Here's a hokie video he made.

Here's his exact view on Class 3
"I'm all for class 3 and suppressors
All the sheriff has responsibility for is clarification a resident resides in the county
No more need in the "Trust" process in Randolph County"

Sounds like a straight from the hip shooter, hope politics won't change him.

From what the people say that I've talked to, Hicks is a long shot at best.

I don't have a problem with Graves. I just posted that so any Randolph County members would have a heads up.

Gotta read it carefully. It says if you don't reapply until after the permit is expired, they'll waive the class requirement as long as you submit within the first 60 after expiration.

Technically, if you let it expire one day, you're required to take the class again...but each locality has the ability to waive that requirement. Sounds like this county is going to charge you the new rate ($90) instead of the renewal ($75), but waive you having to retake the class.

(Or at least that's how I read it)
