The #FJB Edition F150 is going to need front brakes soon. Other than the dealer has anyone an opinion (difficult to get around here) on aftermarket rotors?

- Box stores (Autozone, etc)
- Mail Order from web sites
- Amazon (trying to stay away from Chinesium)
- Dimpled, slotted, plain?

What's good, bad?

Wanna stop faster than factory. EBC makes great rotors and pads. EBC has a great website if youre unsure which pad you want to use.

BremboUSA sells rotors and pads direct to public. Their solid rotors are excellent. I run them on my little fast civic as well as their pads.

Anything parts store is usually china junk, rockauto is ok if you know what parts you want. Shipping is ok.

Do not forget to flush the brake system with new fluid from the master down. Dont just bleed them. New fluid makes a world of difference, also buy good fluid. I run Dot 4 but also change mine more often. I prefer ATE type 200.

Drilled and slotted rotors is a waste of money IMO.

Our goto brakes are Detroit Axel drilled and slotted disks and ceramic pads.
They don’t rust…
You can get them on Amazon with free shipping or go direct for about the same price.

Their customer service is great.. We ordered a set for my wife’s van and didn’t realize it had the Big brakes.
I called them and they sent new ones and they paid for the return shipping.

Definitely check out rock auto pricing and selection.
If I want something more aggressive than stock, I have used EBC pads. Otherwise I have used Centric Posi Quiet pads with no issues - as good as stock, no noise, and no glazing (several sets of stock front pads have glazed for us).
For rotors, centric have been good.
The last set of rotors I bought for my wife’s minivan I paid extra for the cryo treated Centrics, because my wife is bad about warping rotors on every vehicle she has owned. No complaints, but can’t say whether they helped or not - this is the first warped brake replacement on this minivan.
If we had not had warping with the original rotors, I probably wouldn’t have spent extra on the cryo

You know my truck and trailer. I've tried several OTHER brands and get crap mileage from them. $ for $ I've gone back to Ford for their brake hardware for the longevity and they just work.

If you want I'll order from Huntersville ford on my account and you can just pick them up.

Powerstop makes great brake kits that are normally cheaper than the parts places.

I had powerstop on my 02 f350 cclb 4x4 and 01 Excursion both with the 7.3 and they sucked. It could have been the weight the vehicles. They may work good on smaller vehicles, but after my experience I won't use them again.

Just recently put on powerstop tow kit on my 2011 f150. Amazed at the difference from stock. I have e rated 33’s on the stock fx rims. Much heavier tire than stock and with a boat, the factory breaks were always meh. With the new brakes it stops as good as my wife’s accord and still stops quickly pulling the big duck boat. I was skeptical when I ordered the kit from amazon. They work really well. Kit even came with new pin boots.

Don’t forget to clean out where the slider pins go in the caliper with break cleaner and a bottle brush before regressing. And as others said, buy a gallon of break fluid and flush the system till it runs clear.

Thanks to all for the info. This is the 2nd set. The 1st was done by the dealer as I was busy and they had a special that week. I need to do some thinking this week.

The OEM brakes stop fine. I'm not looking for more performance, just a long(er) lasting set of rotor/pads for the $. I'll take better anytime though...

I'm familiar with changing brakes, cleaning, etc. The fluid has already been replaced on a 5 year cycle.

Just noticed the FJB edition.
Henry would agree✌️

PFC (performance Friction) makes quality brake equipment in Clover SC. I run their pads on my Excursion.
