I understand the classified posting rules and they make good sense. In the past I've old sold or traded with close family and friends.

In the next few weeks I wanted to sell a few rifles - mostly ex com block stuff and their related ammo. I haven't shot them in years and they are taking up space in my safe.
When you have agreed on purchase where is a good place to meet? I've sold a few thousand primers in the McDonald's parking lot safely an without unwanted attention but those are innocuous boxes.
I don't feel comfortable standing with someone at the rear of my minivan testing out the action on a PSL but I want to give a buyer the chance to examine what they are purchasing.
Can you guys share how you've handled this in the past?

thanks!

Post it with LOTS of pictures and all the info, in the appraisals. Plus where it is located. Your profile just says NC. Worth more to somebody close by.
If it’s desirable you’ll already know who really wants it before diving into the BSTs.

And meet in the daylight. At the back of the parking lot of any retail establishment you are comfortable with. Or do an FFL transfer in a gun store, but you’ll likely have to stand in line to get in, and it will discourage many buyers.

I've done....a few....deals on here over the years. Once you get past the first couple, you won't even think twice about meeting in a public space. People just don't pay much attention to things that aren't directly in front of them.

I often times meet in a large parking lot where you can get some space between you and the crowd, but still in a public area. Lay the gun or whatever in the back seat or bed of the truck and let the buyer take a gander. It can done discreetly. I've never had an issue. And, just remember that you aren't doing anything illegal.

Gun store pkg lots. Noone bats an eye.
Ive alao seen/done it at Walmarts, Cracker Barrels, Wendys, BBQ joints, Sporting Goods stores, malls, theaters...I could keep going but whats the point.
Mainly its because Im not doing anything illegal and I dont care what Suzy Soccermom thinks.
Ive had Police walk by at a Wendys, say a quick howdy, and walk in. One was already in the corner of a pkg lot when we got there and watched us but never approached.
Youll get to where its no biggie for you, too, eventually.

The vast majority on this forum are easy and great to deal with. Most just do not believe in bills of sale, or anything that goes further than the law. If that is something you require, post that in the ad. Other than that, if a price, time and place is agreed on, don’t back out. That is about all I can think of. Enjoy meeting this motley crew of folks on here.

You have a PSL?

I live in southwest Charlotte. I bought two rifles, from two different members of this forum, both in the Salisbury area, years apart. Funny thing is, they both wanted to meet in the same shopping mall parking lot, I mean within 50 feet of being in the same parking space.

My experience pretty much echos @Tim 's.

What Tim said......and the first time that I ever traded with him, it wasn't the fact that he's 6" taller than me that was intimidating.
It was those dang horns on his head!

Man don't even worry about it. I have bought a couple of guns and some ammo in the last few weeks. We met in parking lots of gas stations or retail stores. Nobody even cared what we were doing.

And everyone I have dealt with here has been classy. No problems at all. I think you'll be fine.

That said, the parking lot of a shooting range would seem the be a spot where NOBODY would think twice about two old boys fondling a weapon.

I favor Walmart parking lots. Easy to find, with or without GPS. Big enough parking lot that you can park 30+ feet from everyone else and be easy to spot, and reasonably set apart from everyone towards the edges. Video cameras(doubt they work, but they scare criminals), and enough traffic that people would report quickly a robbery.
Also, Walmart shoppers don't care if people handle guns in a parking lot.
But, as people said CFF people are good people.

If you don't like public places, you can come to my house and we'll go out back and shoot the breeze and the firearm together. 😁
J/K: I, like @pinkbunny , favor Walmart parking lots. Sheetz (around back) works okay too.
Don't worry too much about it. We (well, most of us) don't bite. And those who do will tell you up front.

I usually meet people near places that sell my favorite beer.

If I'm selling, I get the cash and send them on their way. If I'm buying, I pay them then ask them to watch my stuff while I go in and buy beer.

Thanks for all of the tips guy. Perhaps I pay more attention than most people. I have a lot of kids so I'm always looking out parking lot problems - especially at Walmart where crazy things happen.
There are plenty enough gun stores around my area so using one of those is probably a good idea.

I sold a pistol to someone I didn’t know, and I had him meet me inside the Wal-Mart where we knew we were on camera, did what was legally required, then we went to my truck and he paid me and took the gun.

I like to get to the meeting place early... That way, I can go inside, get the beer, and drink a few in the truck before the other person gets there...

Just kidding...

But seriously... A couple times, I have met to buy a gun in a gun store parking lot... I got there early and went inside to buy ammo for the new gun. That way, when the deal was done, I was on my way home with a new gun and some ammo for it.
