I get up sometimes hours before the missus, and make coffee. She sleeps poorly as it is. The bedroom is next to the kitchen and my four cup basic Mr. Coffee makes a lotta racket in a quiet house towards the end of the brewing cycle. Steam and hot water gurgling. It doesn’t do it long but….

Any recommendation for a quiet coffee maker? The less frills the better. No Kuerigs please.

Does the coffee have to be hot? If not, cold brew coffee might be an alternative.

Using a pot of boiling water and a pourover makes for a great cup. If you want, I will ruin your life and give you a batch of roasted and ground beans to get the addiction started!
I am like the smack dealer.... first one is free!
This seems labor intensive.

Plus, the cabinets with the pots and pans are against the wall between the kitchen and the master’s chambers.

I don’t think my wife could resist the urge to put that pot back in the cabinet every night within an hour of me getting it out for the next morning. And me trying to get that pot out in the morning would definitely be louder than the coffee maker.

I’ll have to present that idea to the boss to see if she can resist her tendancies and just leave that pot out at night.

And that is the reason i have a coffee maker in the garage ☺️
I told her a year ago I could put it in my “office” at the other end of the house, but she dismissed that idea, for reasons only she understands.

we added outlets in our pantry so the appliances won't be in plaine view. The Boeing 747 of a coffee grinder stays in there.
Is the bedroom against the garage wall? If not, keep the coffeemaker there.

The heavy exterior grade door to the garage is only a few steps away from the bedroom door. I can’t walk out there without her thinking someone just came in through the front door at 4AM.

We have a Hamilton beach that is quiet. Never really noticed the sound anyway, I’ll have to double check before I give my full endorsement.

Never thought I’d be discussing the noise level of a coffee maker. Talk about first world problems 😂

Get an electric kettle and French press/pour over....much better tasting coffee for sure!
I have a french press that my youngest son left here. It’s metal and glass. I can see me making as much noise with that thing as the coffee maker, but then again, I’m not exactly clear how you even operate those things.

My ancestors might be French, but I’m not sure I want to emulate their proclivities for such fancy goings on.

What kind of dummy designed your house?
The mayor of Fuquay. That’s a side gig. He builds some of the best, if not THE best houses I’ve ever seen in thirty years.

Why do y’all wanna make this so complicated?

Make the pot of coffee before bedtime. Either leave it on the warming element or microwave one cup at a time the next morning. 🤓

Microwave is over the stove on the wall shared with the bedroom. That thing is damn near unpossible to open and close quietly. It probably transmits as much noise through that wall as the coffee maker. If not more. And it would get open and closed four times for just two cups of coffee.

Ok

I believe this is pretty quiet.

The French Press is not hard to use. Coffee in the bottom, pour in hot water, put the press in and, ah, press it down (muttering in French if you must. Search for some really old Steve Martin recordings of him visiting France.). My only issue with this method is the coffee doesn't stay hot long so you might have to make small amounts or reheat the coffee.

They really do make some good coffee bags or pods for steeping just like tea.

I think I’m just going to present the idea, again, of putting my coffee maker in my office. She can affirm or deny. If she denies, I will disclaim any blame for waking her up forthwith.

Do I need to repost the video of the man speaking Venusian as a refresher for you?

I think I’m going to start putting tags on everything in the house in both primary languages, like they do at Lowes, and the courthouse.

I'm glad my wife is the coffee junkie of the family and I'm half deaf. This is a problem we never have.

+1 FOR THE HAMILTON BEACH.

Man, this reminds me of some of the third word countries hotels I travelled to in my previous job and used instant coffee for a hot cup of coffee. I don‘t think @fieldgrade is looking for the not so good instant coffee.

Unplug the Mr. Coffee before it the noise begins. 🤓
It needs to keep the rest of the pot hot for when I go back for another cup.

@fieldgrade I'm happy to report the Ninja coffee pot doesn't make the steam /end of the line last drip of water puff and gurgle noise that awakens your lovely bride.....it does however beep to signal the coffee is ready!
