Rainy day in Lauterbrunnen

On vacation with the family and it was a rainy day in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.

We got some good hiking in today before the downpours hit us. Talk about some wicked elevation gains! Trails here can be steep, steep, steep!

Switzerland is beautiful. As is Austria. Well they were. I haven't been there in 35 years.

Temp yesterday was 60 and a bit chillier today with the rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be on the 40’s (brrr).

We’re planning on a guided via ferrata tour tomorrow but the weather may cause us to cancel.

Hoping to make it up to Piz Gloria, Schilthorn (Film location for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service) one day

Weather cleared up this morning and we took a 8.5km hike through the upper alpine meadows. As I said earlier… STEEP TRAIL but amazing vistas!

Schilthorn Was totally socked in with cloud cover today ☹️

Alpine cows took a keen interest in us as we walked near the Alpkäse (Alps Cheese) farm.

Well, we survived the via ferrata today but Jesus was it breathtaking. I can honestly say that in all my years as a climbing guide I have never been as nervous as I was today. Standing on iron rungs 600m above the valley floor was a certainly a pucker factor of 8!
