Raleigh Dixie Gun & Knife 8/6-8/7, who's going?

A buddy just texted me there was a negligent discharge at the show?

I don't think we are going to make it this time. our Son isn't feeling well and we don't want to leave him alone.

Yes there was an ND Vendor towards the back of building had an AR round discharged around 1 o'clock today.

Vendor was asked to pack up and will most likely not be doing any shows in the future!

Do you know which vendor this was? I was there at the time and the moment the shot went off — the whole building went silent. People just froze and then after like 30 seconds, things returned to normal. I’m curious what the AR round hit & if there was anyone that got hurt. Honestly a bit frustrating that vendors are supposed to come into the show with no rounds inside the chamber but clearly they didn’t check..

More than that. They’re also supposed to zip tie the action of every firearm!

How can you zip tie a rifle with working the bolt to open the action, thus the extractor clearing the chamber. Somebody is a idiot to create a situation like this. Geeeeez

Uh oh, hopefully nobody was injured. Does that incident mean the show might not continue on Sunday?

I am not sure exactly who the vendor was, I can find out, They were new vendors, they chose to not follow the rules and it cost them.

99% of vendors especially the ones that have been doing shows for a long time follow the rules and have no issues. No one was hurt which was a blessing.

I’m working up front in the Crystal Pawn booth directly at gun check entrance. Stop and say hi. I’m the handsome guy with the Sturgis Harley shirt on today!
Oh, I recognize that description! You were quite helpful in guiding me to figure out what the Sig P322 was analogous to, for which we came to the conclusion its size was closest to the Sig P320 Compact. Thank you for your assistance! You have a great booth with cool guns for sale. I hope y'all manage to sell a fair bit! :D

Nah, nobody was injured. I rushed over as quick as I could to ensure medical aid was available if need be, but when I got there it was just a guy staring dumbfounded at the gun in his hand. No blood, nobody got hurt, not sure where the bullet impact was, but it wasn't in a person or anything that mattered. Nobody was told to leave, and the show went on as normal. Security reviewed the situation and didn't seem to believe there was cause for alarm, only cause for that vendor to pack up and vamoose. Which is unfortunate, they looked like they had a neat booth. But an ND isn't something we can abide by.

First and Last for them, costly lesson for them unfortunately!

That was actually a really good show. :) Weapon Works brought out their really good stuff! Without a doubt the coolest table in the show to me. I couldn't afford to buy too much, but I managed to score a Romanian 7.62x39 AK drum at a good deal, and a neat Hawaiian floral print laser-engraved Pmag from WeaponWorks without going over my budget, so that was nice. So many good deals on lots of guns I absolutely want. I finally got to handle a 308 Valmet, which was super cool, as well as the CMMG Mutant in 7.62x39 that I've been wanting to check out for forever. There were a surprising number of Springfield Hellions at the show, and all at relatively fair prices. So it's neat to see those slowly trickling into the market.

Also good news - lots of PMC 5.56/223 and 9mm ammo trickling in! If you look for the deals on full 1000rd/half 500rd cases, they're around the $500-520 per 1K mark for 5.56 and $350 per 1K mark for 9mm. That's not much more than what my professional trainer is able to get his ammo in at cost to us as his students, so right now, those are pretty fair deals. There were definitely vendors who wanted way too much for their ammo, still clinging to 2020-2021 prices. But there were some decent deals on bulk ammo. So if your 9mm/5.56 guns like PMC, be on the lookout for those!

Most definitely. Probably not allowed to come back, and probable loss of FFL, based on what the vendors were telling me. You could probably say more for sure than I can. Shame it happened. I hate to see allies in the gun industry made to pack up, but those rules are there for a reason.

I would be surprised if they lose their FFL , they won't be allowed back to a Dixie Show for awhile I'm sure.

Oh, well that's good. Nobody was hurt, so if I had the power to make those decisions I wouldn't take their FFL away. But I could definitely see them not being allowed back at the Dixie show for a while as a matter of event safety.

I'll be there Saturday morning. On the hunt for a P7.

Last one I went to I didn't see too many steals - definitely have been to a couple good shows there though.
Hi there! I did not see a P7 at the Dixie show, but I know that Mace Sports in Mebane, NC has a P7 for sale because I handled it right before closing time there on Friday. Unless they sold it today, they'd probably still have it if you wanted to drive up Tuesday to get it. I think they wanted $1700ish for it.

Very glad no injuries happened from the ND. The scenario of an injury happening at the show would have most likely ended it permanently at the fairgrounds. People get complacent and fail to check the firearms. I personally never assume a weapon is clear until I see it for myself. On the other hand it was a good show with a good turn out.

Finally a decent show, got there around noon, was about done when the n/d happened. Glad no-one got hurt. Vendor needs to get gone if it was his negligence. I was pulling into the parking lot years ago when the had a n/d that hurt someone, they closed the show. Guy told me to turn around. My bud was already in the show and we were planning to meet there. Today I saw a lot of nice Colts, multiple vendors had powders and one even lead bullets. Bought a lb of Clays 35.00 [only one I saw] and a brick of 200 gr lead RN bullets 61.00. Good timing as I ran out of 200 gr swc .45s last time I loaded .45acp. Primers are still stupid. Picked up a few other odds and ends. Didn’t feel like a wasted trip. Didn’t see any shot, no Webleys, no M38 Swedish mausers.

Wow thanks for the great info. I’m going back to Jacksonville tomorrow night but I’ll have to find a way to get up there. $1700 is worth going out of my way for sure based on what I’ve been seeing..

Confirmed we’re going at the start of the show tomorrow morning. Looking forward to it based on what you guys have said.

I was at the show when the ND occurred a little bit after 1 o'clock . It happened about 30-40 yds from me. I immediately ducked and got behind one of those beams but came out after no second shots. I thought it sounded somewhat quiet for an indoor rifle shot almost like a blank or primer only discharge. The vendor did not look familiar and I noticed several people pointing at the floor as if maybe where impact occurred . I can't see how a bullet hitting the cement floor almost straight down would not result in lead/cement shrapnel causing some sort of injury. Maybe we all just got lucky.

Any primers less than Brownells 11 cents? Any older wood and steel arms, or mostly plastic?

I found ginex SPP for $80 per 1000 OTD. The dealer was all the way in the back. Sorry I’m blanking on his business. He had decent stash of powder so I got CFE223 to compare to my beloved AA2520.

LRP and LPP are still absurd. I actually just ordered some small primer 45 auto brass so I don’t have to keep burning up LPP’s!

Disappointing show, now I remember why I haven't gone in years. Lots of handguns and AR's. Few hunting rifles and fewer deals on them. Saw one place had a Ruger American $300 over everywhere else on the planet lol. what little powder was $50, and primers $175. A lot of ammo was over store

I went Sunday morning, about 30 minutes after the doors opened. No line outside at all. Had a good conversation with @divisionarmsllc . I dropped a 20 in the jar at the GRNC table (I always do). The only thing I bought was an AR magazine for 450 Bushmaster. I thought the prices and selections on guns were decent. I almost bought a stripped lower for an AR10. Prices on primers are still jacked as far as I’m concerned, but I have not had to buy any for over two years now.

It was great meeting you, enjoyed our conversation, look forward to next time

Good show! Pretty full set up and a bit of everything. Didn't get to stay long but I did come away with some 308 at .$80 CPR. Saw a USP Compact in .40 for ~$750, definitely would have jumped if it were 9mm but who wouldn't?

@divisionarmsllc Saw you guys out there. You were talking to a customer at the computer when I came by so I didn't interrupt and introduce myself - I'll make sure to hang around a bit longer next time when I'm not in a rush and say hello.

@Fishnfool1991 I called Triangle and they had a P7 at $3200. They didn't have details for me but I assume its an M13 at that price - but its definitely reasonable. A local shop here has one for $3700.

@Gnash.Hyena Definitely calling up to Mebane on Tuesday when they open. Wonder if they will transfer it to my local guys..😬

There were a handful of vendors that had primers at $100 or $110 for a 1000ct brick. Not many but they were there. I know Georgia Arms had CCI small magnum rifle primers for that price, and another vendor had a single brick of Federal small magnum pistol primers for the same. A few somewhat unusual primer brands for sale too. Fiocchi and Ginex, maybe others, scattered throughout the show. If I were more loose with my budget this show I might have grabbed the Federal SMPP brick.

Afraid I’ll have to be down to have my last brick before I pay that much. While I wanted to do 2 cas shoots a month I have gone on a primer diet and am shooting a cas shoot and a .22 zsa shoot a month. I’ve also have bought spp .45acp brass to extend my lp primers.
